Guest guest
The palm oil from Tropical Traditions has a slight Free Fatty Acid taste, but it is rather mild. It is neither nutty nor sweet. It does not have a real distinctive taste. The longer it sits the stronger the taste. And the longer it sits the lighter the color as the vitamins break down from sunlight. The beauty of natural palm oil is that it is incredibly high in the anti oxidant vitamins and they are natural, not synthesized in a laboratory. The natural palm oil we sell is a liquid at room temperature and is very similar to olive oil as far as when it turns to a solid. It has a milder taste that the TT natural palm oil and a longer shelf life. It is packaged in an amber jar to protect it from sunlight. The natural palm butter we sell is softer than the TT palm butter at room temperature but has a stronger taste. It is actually never heated and is called crude palm oil. It is somewhat the consistency of our raw ghee or x-factor butter oil is any of you have those products. It is more for cooking and similar to African Palm Oil. The Natural palm oil has more palmetic oleic acid (a 16 carbon chain saturated fat) and the palm butter has more stearic acid (an 18 carbon chain saturated fat) That is why the differences in melting points. The natural palm oil is approximately 50% saturated and 50% unsaturated fats, but it higher in carotenes (pro-vitamin A's that include alpha, beta, gamma, and delta carotene, lycopene, lutein, and many others) tocopherols (Natural Vitamin E - alpha, beta, gamma, and delta, tocopherols) and tocotrienols (alpha, beta, delta, and gamma). Natural Palm Oil is the highest natural source of tocotrienols and these substances are much more power than vitamin E and do many things vitamin E can not do. Natural Palm Butter from TT is a lower in the vitamins and a little lighter in color than their Palm oil. Both taste the same. Natural Palm Butter from us is about the same in vitamins as our Palm oil. The Natural Palm Butter is stronger tasting than TT's and the Natural Palm Oil is very mild tasting. Most carotenes are orange, lycopene and a few others are red, tocopherols and tocotrienols are dark yellow. So you can imagine the color of this oil. It is a dark orange that almost looks red but as you examine it you can see reds, oranges and yellows. It is wonderful for burns, especially sunburn. I know people who have used it while taking chemo therapy to keep for getting sick or loosing their hair. I know they have used it to treat breast cancer in Malaysia and to reverse heart disease. The palm oil is my personal favorite over the palm butter. Both the Palm Oil and the Palm Butter handle heat as well as the coconut oil because of the high levels of antioxidants. I often times use the palm oil on salads. We also mix the coconut oil and palm oil for a blend quite often. Palm oil makes your scrambled eggs look like they are all yolks!! What does the palm oil taste like, and how do you use it? Thanks. ~~ Jocelyne
Guest guest
Annette, What is the difference between palm oil, palm butter, and palm kernal oil? Is there a palm kernal butter? If a palm oil product is labeled " modified palm oil " does that mean it may have been partially hydrogenated? I found a reference that said US oil importers are not required to relabel hydrogenated oils as containing trans fat. Darrell
Guest guest
Annette So which is better? Natural palm oil or virgin coconut oil? Thanks. SPAM: SPAM: Re: Digest Number 332 Evan wrote: >Hi. Guest guest
Nevermind, Annette Duh, if I had looked closer at your post, I would have seen you already described the difference between palm oil and palm butter! No wonder you didn't reply. I'll blame my lapse on a deficiency of tocotrienols. I happened to read elsewhere that palm butter has slightly more saturated fats than the palm oil. Are both palm oil and palm butter fairly equal as far as health benefits go? Thanks, Darrell > Annette, > > What is the difference between palm oil, palm butter, and palm kernal oil? > > Is there a palm kernal butter? > > If a palm oil product is labeled " modified palm oil " does that mean it may > have been partially hydrogenated?
