Guest guest
, Thanks for this info that psyche drugs can cause ringing in the ear. Do you know the mechanism? When I took J. to an audiologist for severe ringing in the ear, bone & nerve conduction hearing loss, it was my understanding that the ringing was present because there was a hearing loss- the lack of nerve conduction caused the ringing as the absence of vibration of the hair cells in the cochlea and therefore there was nothing being sent to the auditory nerve to be recieved by the brain (which lobe I've forgotte 20 years after Nationa Boards) The audiologist that I'm not going to take him to for the Medicare/Medicaide surgery because he said he " thought " one of the ossicles (ear bones) had been broken during the 17 feet head first fall onto concrete after falling asleep standing up on Klonopin (sp?) that causes " drowsiness " just didn't make sense to be to do surgery without an MRI to SEE if there was ossicle damage before tampering with the tympanic membrane (ear drum). He died for 2 min. 37 seconds and blood was splattered all over the warehouse. He wasn't expected to live. He's been on Dioxepin (sp?) for _____ years but after he realized that it was after this drug that he was having behavior that would give the Mental Health Center a reason to institutionalize him he took the initiative and talked to 2 MD's that advised him to contact the prescibing MD and tell him he was quitting that. That was about 2 weeks ago. He's quit the soft drinks in the 3 months since I've known him so that removes the apartame but I don't know until I hear from Betty i of MIssion Impossible if the aspartame hearing problems are permanent. It would be interesting to know what is the mechanism whereby a biochemical agent can cause tinnitis and deafness. This symptom is of particular interest to me as the first chiropractic adjustment was done on janitor Harvey Lillard by Palmer on Sept. 18, 1995 and he got his hearing back. I never believed in that story but now I " m going to see what I can do before the Dec. appointments with the Brain Injury/Audiologists at UAB Medical. Looking forward to that appointment with the pain specialist that has been prescribing a narcotic drug for 10 years and a psychiatric drug that was causing psychiatic symptoms. He had been scheduling the apts. 6 months apart but when he was informed he was being seen by a D.C. he scheuled it in 2 months. People really need to have their case histories and Medical Power of attorney read to give the nurse and have it in the file before they ever see a doctor. Most applications have the same informatin on them that you get so tired of filling out when a patient has to go to many doctors. A generic application with all the usual info could be prepared and just put " see attached " next to all the blanks to save yourself a lot of frustration & aggravation (isn't there a drug to save you from feeling those normal emotions?).
