This so much sounds like drug propaganda to me -- a good strategy they came up with to blame the person's illness not the poisons they were taking for their horrific behavior. We all know they rarely get a dx right. And we all know that many a person went ballistic on antidepressants with or without a BP dx. These drugs affect your brain with a totally unpredictable outcome -- it often has nothing whatsoever to do with the mental illness. " Blind Reason " a novel of pharmaceutical intrigue Think your antidepressant is safe? Think again. Guest guest
My only point in that comment is that it is medically accepted that ANY antidepressant, regardless of the class, can cause or contribute to instability in people with bipolar disorder because the AD under discussion is not an SSRI. That much the medical industry admits which is why most ADs come with a warning about watching closely anyone given the AD who has ever had a manic episode. This has led to the generally held belief that ONLY bipolars respond to ADs like that and caused some doctors to label anyone who has an adverse reaction to ADs as " bipolar " . And since there is no objective, scientific method of diagnosing " bipolar " disorder, no once can " prove " these doctors wrong. Yeah, it's medical industry disinformation. But there are more and more independent researchers talking about antidepressant induced mania and antidepressant induced bipolar disorder. > In a message dated 8/7/04 5:03:25 AM Mountain Daylight Time, > SSRI medications writes: > > > > However, her diagnosis was bipolar (thus the > > lithium) and ANY antidepressants can cause or contribute to worsening > > behavior in bipolars with or without a first line mood stabilizer. > > > > > What if the drugs induce this behavior no matter what's wrong with you??? > This so much sounds like drug propaganda to me -- a good strategy they came up > with to blame the person's illness not the poisons they were taking for their > horrific behavior.
