Guest guest
Kimberley, given the fact that I live in a different time zone and are sweating over a difficult legal translation at 3 in the morning, I will most definitely not spend one-tenth of my censorship energy, as you put it, to explain the concept and objective of this forum to people clearly incapable and unwilling to abide by the list rules. Freedom of expression and opinions is not synonymous with persistent violations of rules and regulations, as exercised by one particular group member subsequently banned from this forum for posting copyrighted personal comments of list members to non-members and other groups. Ingrid I really don't understand why OT posts are such a problem as long as they are titled as such in the subject line. I have no interest in politics so I use my delete key. It's less time- consuming than being a control-freak and constantly posting " Let's don't get off topic - let's don't get off topic! " Relax already. We're all for freedom, right? Getting offended is a choice. Ignore people who write stupid things. I wish the moderators or the frequent posters would spend one-tenth of their censorship energy on getting people to trim their bloody posts. Now THAT would be a nice skill for everyone to work on Don't read topics that you're not interested in. Personally, I have learned a lot about diverse subjects in this group and I'm grateful for that. I love reading about homeopathy - but I have no desire to go join a group devoted exclusively to the subject. If you're not interested in it, instead of whining about how it's OT - ignore the thread. It's really not that hard. Kimberley ------------------------------------

Guest guest
Dear Ingrid, I appreciate all you do for this group as a member and moderator. I wasn't taking issue with the fact that someone got banned - indeed, when we join we agree to follow the rules. I just feel an overwhelming amount of time and energy is expended by some truly brilliant people in trying to reign in OT posts and I'd rather read " real " contributions from our most insightful members instead of the repetitive " Keep on Topic " posts. Warmly, Kimberley > > > > Kimberley, given the fact that I live in a different time zone and are > sweating over a difficult legal translation at 3 in the morning, I will most > definitely not spend one-tenth of my censorship energy, as you put it, to > explain the concept and objective of this forum to people clearly incapable > and unwilling to abide by the list rules. Guest guest
To Neil and all list-serv members. Reminder, our current policy allows off topic posts as long as they indicate so in the subject header. As moderator, the only way I would consider a policy change re. "off-topic" is if either: 1-a majority of active list-serv members requested a change or 2- the list became "predominantly off-topic". In the last 10 years we have had two votes on this matter and each time a large majority voted to keep OT posts. Guest guest
I think OT is OK as long as it's labeled. Guest guest
....and it goes without saying that NO ONE can resist the temptation to open MY OT posts any more than they can eat one Lays Potatoe chip or ignore a knock knock joke. You just never know when there will be a really great piece of wisdom or wit. To wit: Wisdom: It's bizarre that the produce manager is more important to my children's health than the pediatrician. ~Meryl Streep To wit: Wit: Two nuns are driving home from a long hard day of nun’s work. They left the home of a dying woman late that night and entered a long stretch of supposedly haunted road just as it starts to rain. As they drove though this dark, dark rainstorm with lightning flashing all around, and their car sliding all over the road, the Devil himself appears on the hood of the car. “Oh my,” says the first nun, “it’s Satan, the Dark Lord.” The other nun, driving, says “Lean out the window, and show him your cross.” So nun one leans out the window and yells ” Hey, assh*le, get off the hood!” Badump bump. Thank you very much! I’ll be here ‘til Thursday. Be sure to tip your waitress. E. Abrahamson, D.C. Guest guest
I have no problem with off topic posts or the poster's. I only have concerns that this may be distracting from our true mission as chiropractors. I hope that these discussions are not creating a negative energy between some valuable persons on this list serve. I have no desire to see any sensorship on these topics, just hope we can keep the positive energy flowing and the negative energy to a minimum. I am honoured to be a part of this group and learn something useful on a regular basis. Kehr AboWoman@... wrote: > >I think OT is OK as long as it's labeled.
