Dr. Karyn Berry of the city's health department notes that while an estimated 5,000 students are currently without vaccinations, that number has been reduced from about 11,000 at this time last year. I hardly find a " fine " encouraging! in IL The school system provides a number of incentives, such as free shots and the threat of a fine, to encourage parents to have their children immunized on time. How can they impose a fine?? That should be illegal! Not that various branches of the government and depts. of the government don't do that on a regular basis anyways. Sigh!
