Deb, I want to thank you for your recent post to Tami.....welcome Tami, I am new, too, and having surgery on 6/27 for LTKR.....your words are so encouraging and enough to convince me that I need to get a computer for home just to have access to this wonderful support. This site is such a gift. Marciareynawhitehawk <ReynaWhitehawk@...> wrote: Hi Tami,I think I may be the most recent one to have a TKR....I'm 5 weeks post op as of today. Not from me. Pittman killed his grandparents on it. The movie

" Antidepressant: Suicide? " Had a precious little girl that hung herself

unexpectedly on it. It can be very hard to get off of. Too much of it will

give you Serotonin Syndrome.

http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/serotonin-syndrome-ADF.htm

There was study that said that moderate depression responded better to

exercise than Zoloft.

I guess it would be good for getting rid of people you didn't want around.

You could probably use it for rat bait.

Jim

Is there anything good to be said about Zolft

Tami:

Are you saying that you will not have the operation if you cannot convince the

doctors? It

goes without saying this is your decision and yours alone. I would ask them if

they would

reconsider and if the only reason is because of age. Tell them you are going to

get

another opinion and it is your decision not theirs on the subject.

From what I understand the technology is well understood and if nothing happens

between the bone and the metal parts the only wear is the plastic cushion. This

is the

same material that skate board wheels are made out of, very tough. The plastic

part can

be replaced in the future if it does wear out. The metal will not wear. Now

hips are a

different animal and there are more factors but not with knees.

It is a question of life style. All things being equal. Like someone else

posted, who has

the pain, you or the doctor. This is just my 2 cents worth. I have learned

over the years

that we the patient need to take more responsibility for health related

decisions. This is

assuming that we have all of the best and most recent information on the

subject. There

will alway be some unknowns but if you do the research, get several opinions

(doctors)

and read what as been posted by hundreds on this thread and others, you can

make a

good decision about this.

One question I would have is is she verbal? If kids don't have words to say

what they feel/need to say, they use physical action. Frustration is hard

on all of us, but kids really struggle with it. I would encourage you to

give her the words to express herself, or some sign language, or whatever

you use. I don't use corporal punishment either, although I have to admit

there are days I'm tempted. Parenting is hard. You can say, " hands are for

hugging; hands aren't for hitting. " My guess is she picks on her brother

because she can. Kids do that; they figure out who they can boss around or

push around and then do it when they're frustrated. A behavior guy I know

once told me instead of telling your child what not to do, tell her what to

do. Seems like good advice.

Good luck! :)

I am having some behavior problems with my daughter Amelia (ds, 6) whereby

she gets angry or frustrated with her younger brother Jake (4) and hits him.

Sometimes it won't be even a situation where she is angry with her brother

but at someone else and she will walk over and hit him or push him. We do

not use corporal punishment. On Sunday she pushed him so hard off the

toilet-where he was standing on the lid-that I really was concerned that she

had injured him. Any advice on how to help her change this behavior?

The power of the Internet in naming buildings affected with toxic mold is an

interesting idea. Does anyone know if there are any websites where any list

per state has been started? I think it is an interesting concept of naming a

building, an address and along with that stating the results of the testing,

being specific with facts that can be backed up.

Tara,

My experience is that most people do not want to know about exposure to toxic

molds in their environments, even when sick. It is too threatening to them.

All too many people do not believe toxic mold can make people sick. Given

this, there may be even one person sick from the mold that has no idea this is a

result of mold exposure. It might be that this one person would benefit from

being told their environment could be a cause for the symptoms they are

experiencing.

People exposed to mold who are sick should know that leaving that environment

may make them well again. Once someone knows this who is sick and chooses to

stay, that is their choice. For those that are sick and deny a problem, fine.

However, for those that are sick and have no idea as to a cause, these are

the people we need to reach out to.

Half of the trauma of illness as a result of toxic mold exposure is not

having any idea what is wrong. Getting sicker and sicker and going to doctors

who

have no education in identification of and recognition of mold illness is

sadly a journey many have traveled, as I have.

I am new to this group and hope to make a difference. There is power in

numbers and even greater power in the Internet in these numbers.

Sorry to hear of your troubles....

How long have you been medicated? Did you start losing weight

after you were on it?

Does the hairloss correspond with starting medication, or did it start before?

(it can be a side effect of some synthetics)

Hi Don, I had my TKR on Feb 27, 2006 and am getting along really great. Determination, I guess. Today is my last day of PT. I had the larger scar with mine. I measured it and it's 9" long and then just below that I have about a 1" scar. Have no idea what that is! I was showing a friend who came over my boo-boo and he almost passed out. I thought I was going to have to pick him up off the floor. Some people can't handle it, I guess. That's the last time I do that. My daughter-in-laws father has about a 4" scar from his TKR. And you can hardly see it now and it's only been a year. I think mine will always be around and I wear shorts in the summer. Add it to another battle scar! I had a repair job done on my right knee in 2001, but you can still see it; still light pink. Everybody heals differently. Lynn

Hi Lynn, I'm like you, huge scar. My second TKR was on Feb 5th. I also had the little Boo-Boo's under my scar on my shin and they hurt like crazy. I had them on both of my knees so I know they meant to do it. I know I'll always have the scars.

Hi Pegleg7157,

Been away a few days and others may have already responded to your post. I

know some people swear by it and others swear at it, but, what warmed me up

was coconut oil in my porridge every morning.

I took it for the thyroid while struggling to get diagnosed, can't say if it

did do anything for my thyroid but it did warm me up and eating it on its

own I noticed my breathing improved. Pre meds I breathed very shallow, and

it was an effort to fill my lungs with air. Within minutes of eating it I

noticed the positive effect on my breathing. I continue to use the coconut

oil in other cooking and on my body. Despite eating it every morning (3

tbsp) I have to say it is not making me put on weight. I have been doing

this since last year. One year on meds plus coconut oil every day I believe

has helped me.

Love,

Val

Most of us are in the usa, but we've had several members from other countries. Our only affiliation is with people who suffer with hepatitis and their loved ones. Do you have socialized medicine in uk? -dz-Janet Myers <ihop2jan@...> wrote: helo jan, i am jan, too, not sure how to get back into the message board, or chat board where i posted my first message, but i remember seeing your name a few times. you had a broken nose? i think that was you.anyway, i think laptops are cool. my 14 yr old son builds computers, and he wants a lap top now, too. you must be the only

Tara,

Contact OSHA in your city ASAP!!! Do you still work for the company? Tell OSHA

you want the General Duty Clause acted upon. ( that is to inform the employees

about what is in the building) Force them to have the building tested. You have

to do a formal letter to your local OSHA office and it can be faxed to them.

Just put everything that has been wrong and what happened in your letter. Make

sure you put your name and phone number where you can be reached.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Marcie
