For shopping how about one of those baby backpacks? they are great!

gail

(unknown)

Thanks for all the adivce. He had a mri when he was in the NICU and they said that everything looked normal. I am very excited for our appt. in a week! Now i have tons of questions to ask. Also does anyone's child have problems sitting? Adison is unable to sit up at all and this is posing a very tough problem since he is in a big boy car seat. So when i go to the grocery store i have no where to put him and it is hard to shop with a baby in your arms!I know that some stores have the built in seats but they are hard to come by and i usually have to do all my shopping alone. So if anyone has anything that they found that works i would be very grateful!

Hi,

<<Also does anyone's child have problems sitting?>>

Has any doc given you a reason why Adison has problems

sitting up on his own? It all could very well be a

developmental thing (he's just taking his own time) or

it could be other things like low muscle tone, spinal

cord issues, etc.

You mentioned they did an MRI in the NICU, do you know

if a PEDIATRIC neurosurgeon read the actual scan? If

not, I would suggest asking the ortho about having

another MRI done just to make sure there are still no

spinal cord abnormalities. In newborns, it can be

very difficult to see subtle issues.

This is just my very humble opinion - not medical

advice :-)

If everything is normal, then it sounds like he is idiopathic to me. If that is the case, then he may very well be a candidate for casting (and a good chance that he could avoid surgery). My son was 43 degrees out of the cast and is 7 degrees in the cast!

Ian never had problems sitting up, but when he walked he did walk tilted over to one side due to his curve. Not sure if your son's inability to sit upright is due to his curve or not, but it is definitely something to ask about when you go to Shriners. Do you know the degree of his curve by chance?

I agree with Carmell. We had a radiologist read Ian's MRI and it was misread. We were told his spinal cord was tethered when it was not the case. The pediatric neurologist read it and even showed it to us and explained how it was definitely not tethered.

I would recommend getting the book entitled Evidence of Harm by david

kirby..This writer has uncovered a bunch of facts, one of which is that the

FDA had uncovered that fact that vaccines might in fact be dangerous, but

choose not tell this to the public, but instead kept underwraps until a press

release was done on a day the government knew people weren't going to really

notice. There's other things in this book that would make your jaw drop. One

other thing you should research is called SV40.The theroy behind SV40 is

that it was a virusin the polio vaccine that was given to people for polio

in the 50's and 60's,and after the virus was discovered during normal

vaccine safety checks, the government ordered that those doses created that

were contanimated be destroyed, but they were not,and some people that were

given this vaccine have come with cancers, and it was belived that some

batches of this were still being created and over the yrs, kids have come

down with cancers too.

no,but I recently had a child die from what I believe was cancer caused by

SV40 and the polio vaccine she received as an infant, and cancers do not run

in my family. She was 15 yrs old and was first diganosed when she was 11.She

had chemo and radiation to treat her,but she had a remission of a couple of

years before she started having problems again.

my son lost the ability to speak/coo/babble (silent for 14 months) after the

MMR. He has been in speech therapy for 3 years and is almost fully

recovered. But the good thing about this sad event is that we stopped all

shots when this happened so he only got about half the amount of

thimerosal/mercury that he would have gotten and it led me to research

vaccines and learn so much that I did not know before. Please visit

www.nvic.org for lots of great info ----

Etana, here is a good article on flax seed for weight loss

http://barleans.com/literature/flax/61-weight-loss.html

You can use the seed or the oil. I use one tablespoon of oil in the morning,

and have been known to sprinkle the seeds on my vegetables. It can also be used

for constipation if you have that. Flax seed is an amazing supplement and it

is also useful in treatment of menopause.

As far as water goes I drink it all day with the exception of my coffee and an

occasional glass of green tea.

Hope this helps!!

Your 2 suggestions were RIGHT on target!!!

essential how? What benefits do you see? How often? I have a protein shake

about 3x/week and can grind fress flaxseed in coffee grinder. I haven't eaten

it other ways yet, still unfamiliar with it.

Yes, I have only been at 6 glasses of water; I think I need to write it on my

schedule WITH my meal.

thanks all! Etana

, sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time. It is hard to keep a positive outlook when it seems everything is going against you. Just remember we all have good and bad days. You have a place to vent. We all understand what is going on.

I know how hard it is to see a loved pet dwindle away cause they are old or are really sick. I have had many dogs in my life and I miss all of them. They bring such a free sprit and unconditional love to the family.

Just keep your chin up. Smile that will start to help you out. Just think we are all wanting to give you a great big hug right now.

,

I'm so sorry you're feeling down! I echo 's sentiments.

It can be so depressing when a member of your family isn't doing well

(even a beloved canine member). I remember when my dog was ailing

with arthritis. I had to buy some plants to tend to so that I could

nurture something that was thriving, not deteriorating. I hope you

can get relief for your physical problems as well! I'd like to send

you a big hug, also! (((((HUG))))) I hope that helps! You have been

a help and encouragement to others here, so you deserve a hug!

-Thankyou. I need it right now. We have prepared the site for him and

am waiting for the vet to come. The time has come to help him

permanently with his pain. I am not doing so well. The girls are

keeping busy for now too. I thought I would get online for a moment

before I get back and sit with him. We have had a pretty rough month

with him, nursing him day and night. I only hope my husband gets here

before the vet so he is here too. I think the whole family should be

here but he is caught up at work with an issue.

Just to add to the turmoil, my mother was put in hospital last night

too. She had chest pains. They have rules out heart trouble but they

want her to stay in until they have rules out blood clots. I haven't

even been to see her yet with all that has happened. Hope to see her

in a few hours. She has been in great health, so I am keeping

positive for her (as best as I can).

Thanks for your thoughts. They are appreciated.

Hi Lynn, I waited for at least 10 years because my Dr. said I was too young. I'm 45 and they said I had to be 50. Well, they did another x-ray and my right one was bone grinding into bone. I don't know how it could be much worse, but other than the pain, I don't think it makes a difference in the surgery.

Hi Jan, best of luck to you. I think you'll get it. It seems to me, they

figure if you wait the 1 to 2 years it takes to get a hearing you must be

disabled or you would've gave up and gotten a job by then. But that's

just the way I see it. I researched when my wife was applying for it, and

they said (about the wait) that they figure you have enough savings to

live that 1 or 2 years without income.. Yeah, right. I'm pulling

for you. -dz-

Yeah, it seems that way. Our company is planning to add 60 or so new jobs

least 10 years cuz dr.'s told me I was too young. I got gastric

bypass surgery to lose weight and it helped little but by then my

knees were so bad I had outward bowing of the knees from wear and

tear. The bone and nerves were severly damaged. I had the right one

replaced 09-30-05 and will have the left done 01-18-06. I wish I had

pushed the dr.'s years ago to have it done so I could have avoided

the severe damage but hindsight is ...... I am glad I had it done and

am glad I am doing the other one soon. I really pushed myself hard to

recover and in two months post am not on heavy pain meds graduaduated

from Pt. and am not using any assistive devices. But then I am a type

A personality and want results " yesterday " . Not everyone is the same

and all I can do is offer encouragement and hope. I had insurance

but not until I became disabled and went on medicaid/medicare did I

have the " insurance " for the surgery. I am hoping that soon I can go

back to work part time at least. I was a teacher and home health care

worker and really miss it. I did find out that having the nerve block

was a godsend and I would highly recommend it and from what I read

so ddo m any others on this site. Good luck to you and feel free to e-

mail me if you have ANY questions or concerns or just want to talk.
