Guest guest
Hi, ! Thank you so much for your kind words about my responses. I'm glad others enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them - although I wish I didn't have to, if you know what I mean. I only wish I had more time to devote to the group. Maybe with winter approaching, I'll be able to spend more time at the computer. Your experiences this week with the roast sounded painful and frightening! There is nothing scarier than being in the throes of a choking attack. You do begin to wonder if your last bite will be your last bite -- ever! Before my surgery, I avoided all meat because I learned the hard way that it was too difficult to swallow. That's one of the problems with this disease - you learn by trial and error what works and what doesn't, and even then there are days when something you thought was " safe " fails to go down. Likewise, there were rare occasions when I could manage to swallow something I previously thought was " off limits " . Even now, nearly a year after my operation, I'll have problems with something and resort to the old tricks of water and walking around. I just have to remember to eat slowly and in small bites, but it's hard. You want to feel like a normal person, and eat without thinking about every mouthful. Hopefully you won't go through another bad time like this last episode again - once is enough, right? Take care - have a good week! Guest guest
Hi, Jerry! I've been meaning to write you for some time now, and I've enjoyed reading the messages you've left for this group. You have a great outlook. I've never read any specific discussion about the dangers of choking during an achalasia attack but would imagine that they're the same as anyone who is choking on food would face. There are, of course, the increased risks of pneumonia from food being aspirated into the lungs, and many of our fellow achalasiacs in this group have already experienced this tendency. For me, choking or violently regurgitating food is a situation that always makes me wonder " what if...? " and I hate being alone when I'm going through an attack. You do hear of those cases where someone has literally choked to death, and think " can this happen to me? " Someone once told me that if you can speak during one of these episodes that you aren't in grave danger. When I use this litmus test on myself, it also has the added benefit of taking my mind off the choking and onto the act of self-preservation - and the choking seems to stop or decrease. How much fun we achalasiacs have!! Carol Re: (unknown) > At 10:03 AM 10/8/2000 -0500, Carol Haggas wrote: > > >There is nothing scarier than being in the throes of a choking attack. Guest guest
Hello Jerry and Carol I have only recently signed on with this group and have found it facinating to read letters describing my life. As far as choking goes, I find it enormously embarassing to eat in front of others for fear that I will have a choking fit and at the same time I don't like to eat alone in for fear of exactly the same thing! When I do choke when others are around I always downplay what has happened so that I won't upset them. I don't want people to know how scary it is and how much it hurts. I have spent time with my doctor discussing my diet and now I mostly eat foods that don't give me trouble. It was very difficult to give up bread but it has been worth it. I used to just eat whatever I wanted and deal with the consequences but now I look at food and ask myself " Is it worth it? " Re: (unknown) > > > > At 10:03 AM 10/8/2000 -0500, Carol Haggas wrote: > > > > >There is nothing scarier than being in the throes of a choking attack. > You > > >do begin to wonder if your last bite will be your last bite -- ever! > > > > This is something I have wondered about. Best wishes, Elena Funny, I had this discussion with my dentist just this week. He said It is the acids in it that erode the teeth. If there are no acids in it, it won't be much of a problem. Personally, I don't usually bring up stuff from the stomach, just stuff from the esophagus, so no stomach acid. If you drink a lot of juice or sodas, the acids in them could still be a problem. I don't seem to have a problem with eroded teeth. Jerry
Guest guest
Corny, IMO, yes! WHen I began the injections I was just coming to terms with a chemical sensitivity. It went away. When I stopped the injections, the first symptom to appear is a different chemical sensitivity. It came back. So, I am reading a booklet by Sherry , MD on the subject. She had it & got well. She tells how! Thanks to whomever mentioned her name! jim Mike E Cornwall wrote: > > HI Jim > > If our organs and glands are part of this overall rejuvenation that comes > with HGH injections, then it will follow that resistance to diseases and > the OVERCOMING of any current diseases will be enhanced! Guest guest
Saul That is a neat and tidy solution for surface bacteria, which is where most of it would be. We can also include with the meal, garlic or cayenne pepper or wasabe, or some other natural anti-biotic. Guest guest
Everything is cool now. I stopped taking the acidophilus. I am taking evening primrose, which is good for eczema also. I just recently started cutting out diary and it is going okay. My main thing is trying to learn to cook without it. I would try soy, but I have read to many derogatory articles about it. Plus, many babies are allergic to it as well. >From: " Bari Lichtman " <blichtman@...> >Reply-Vaccinationsegroups >Vaccinationsegroups >Subject: Re: (unknown) >Date: Mon, 16 Oct 2000 21:10:29 GMT > >Lashanna: > >It sounds like your daughter had a very serious allergic reaction to >something.
