That is called a paraesophageal. hernia. Having part of the colon with the stomach in the chest is not unheard of, but is rare. I was retching after my surgery which may be why part of my stomach is in my chest. In my case they figure it is not a problem, but you have two organs that could be become twisted and blocked. I would not be surprised if they would want to fix that. If it were me I would want one of the best surgeons for esophageal problems, including achalasia and paraesophageal. hernias to check it out and fix it if needed. notan
Guest guest
Lexapro isn't really something you take for such a short time. Guest guest
I have no experience with Lyrica, but I've read that it's a " successor " to Gabapentin, more potent at a lower dose than Gabapentin. Does Lyrica have the same sort of side-effects as Gabapentin? With Gabapentin, it was extremely important to increase the dose very, very, slowly, backing down at any sign of problems. Does Lyrica have the same requirement? You might want to check to see whether you should be starting out at a lower dose and building up. I don't know whether that's the case -- repeat -- I don't know. I take Gabapentin / Neurontin for the after-effects of shingles. Some people, like me, are helped a great deal by Gabapentin. Others find it completely ineffective. For others, Gabapentin can be extremely dangerous. I'm one of those for whom Gabapentin is absolutely wonderful, but I know people who have not been so fortunate, and the resulting problems have been severe. I haven't read enough to know if Lyrica is free of the side-effects that Gabapentin sometimes has. Please talk with your doctor about the feelings you're having. It's possible that an adjustment of the dose can help, or it just may not be the right medication for you. Guest guest
Dear Louise, About ten years ago I had some experience in this area, courtesy of the anthropologist Kate Clarricoates and also the Norfolk-based Anglia Gypsy-Traveller Health Information Project (AGTHIP). Since then, a DPH in Norwich ( something...) did an excellent health needs assessment of the only authorised camp in that area, that impressed me. Back at the beginning, the Cambridge health visitor Gail Ewing was an inspiration, with her patient but methodical family work at informal campsites - I think Dr.Ewing is now working in the University of Cambridge. Both Gail and Kate emphasised: find the extended family's Grandmother first, and win her over ! Good luck with your guidelines. If you have problems with translation of some health concepts/customs, I think Greenwich University has a Roma specialist (Help, Liz?).
