Guest guest
Jane, you have hit it right on the bullseye: for every spectacular case of violent suicide or homicidal behaviour on these drugs, there must be hundreds of thousands of people whose lives have been diminished by their use, either by themselves or by someone whose life intersects with theirs . And the most hellish thing about it is that the person ingesting these things loses the ability to have insight into what is happening to him. I think it was Glitter who said these drugs and the psychiatrists who push them represent " the beating heart of evil. " Truly, truly, sorrowfully so. Some day, someone more talented than I will write the ultimate fantasy, in which the heroes go into the Dark Forest to vanquish this Evil. Lord of the Intact Neurons trilogy, maybe, or another 5-part -like series, The Dark is Rising, Part II. SSRI's - permanent long term problems and consequences Some really interesting posts, thanks for the replies. The more I keep hearing the more I go ..Yep, like that, just like that. A new thing I hadnt thought of was Cholesterol levels. Hubby has now got high cholesterol levels which he never had before he went on SSRI's. We never linked the fact. Derrrrr... Makes me feel stupid myself. (Like he feels brain damaged and not as intelligent as he was before) His doctors prescribed Lipitor...Which after reading your posts on Grapefruit juice, I got out of the cupboard and he's never going to take those either. (one pill leads to another) He has weight gain which is permanent but in this case is beneficial so if someone became obese taking them it is not surprising. From all the posts you guys sent it appears these drugs are ruining peoples lives. They certainly did ours. It seems there are slow insidious permanent changes from taking these things long term. My information from being a Prozac Lilly rep is 10 yrs old. I dont know what has been done in the meantime but I thought it a bit odd that we were not to discourage doctors from putting their patients on these things for years or life when there were NO long term studies for their use for years. It never never, obviously, occured to me (until 01)what the sort of long term effects could be (one tends to think of short term things only and obvious things). All the media attention is going to the teen suicides. Perhaps the real wicked story is the ruining of so many lives, and not just those of the people who take the stuff but of that of those who live and do business with them. The ramifications of the negative effects of the side effects on my husband through his business losses would go to 40 or 50 or more people. Obviously there are not many long term proper clinical trial results out there in general circulation, just a few. (Or am I wrong?) I have an aquaintance who is a Pfizer rep and manger. I will ask her about the latest she has available. On the other hand she is not likely to know negative effects. Anyway, I'll try. I think I will " detail " my own GP. I used to " detail " him for Prozac/Eli Lilly and I think I will do it for my own cause now. He is a generally good bloke and has a brain and not too much ego. I will ask him to get his reps to get long term use studies. If he cant get them my guess is that the results dont suit the companies so they dont get published. I was really interested to hear what the " side effects " are for you guys. If I had heard this stuff when hubby had started taking ssri then our lives would not have been so deranged and he would not have had permanent damage. I am really interested to read your personal stories of what it did to " health " and to " business " . It just takes so long to write back. Guest guest
I would love to see Terry Pratchett attack such a topic as he does such a good line in flippant black commedy. When things get really bad one has to laugh. I think the thing about real " evil " is when it is institutionalised and is made up of ordinary people just " doing their job " with no intention or idea they are participating in something which is destroying to others. How to break the cycle ????? If we could only get the " real " story of Life on SSRI's on Dr Phil (yes, we get lunchtime doeses of Dr Phil down here in OZ) Jane > Jane, you have hit it right on the bullseye: for every spectacular case of violent suicide or homicidal behaviour on these drugs, there must be hundreds of thousands of people whose lives have been diminished by their use, either by themselves or by someone whose life intersects with theirs .
