I too use the 50mg once a week and I have had no problems Yet

been on it 3 months now. I let it sit out about 45 min. to get the

chill off and it does not sting.

Just my input.

I am fortunate that Enbrel alone works well for me. My liver values

were fine with methotrexate, but it caused my white blood cell count to

go too low. I hope the Enbrel does soon kick in for you.

I don't have a lot of pain with the Enbrel, but yesterday I was riding

in a car for about 5 hours, then stayed at our destination about 4

hours, and then rode for another 4 1/2 hours. By the time I got home, I

was stiff and aching in several places, but after a good night's sleep,

I'm fine again.

Here's wishing you luck.

I think that the 25mg Enbrel works better for me. I tried the 50mg for

one month, and it didn't seem to last the full week. I also didn't like

the dull needles. I switched back to the 25mg the next month, and have

been on it ever since.

Dear ,

Can you tell me how much Enbrel you are taking and also do you take

Methotrexate or some other DMARD?I.ve been on Remicade and MTX for 4 months

and still am in constant pain? The only thing that helps is the Prednisone.

Any help will be welcome.

Sincerely,

Bunny

I concur, at least partially. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever

have my old life back, but Enbrel has helped *enormously.* I, too, was

spiraling downhill - I called it falling into the abyss (of excruciating

pain, unbearable depression and horrible fatigue) - and Enbrel pulled me

out.

I still can't do many of the things I used to and I tire easily, plus

I'm on a ton o' other meds, but hey, it's better than the 'abyss' :)

Good luck :)

Bunny,

I too was having problems with hair loss......between turning 50 and

having more pain that I can stand.....I was also loosing my hair. I

have very long blonde ( & gray) hair and to loose it makes me very upset.

I blamed the MTX until the realization that it didn't start falling out

until I started Humira. So which one is it....MTX or Humira.....we

don't know. We backed off my MTX to only 6 pills a week and I bought

every product I could afford and actually my hair is growing back in.

I don't know if I shared with the group or if it was published....but I

am having another Spine Fusion on April 23rd.......I'm pretty

scared....in fact so scared that I postponed it...it was suppose to be

this next Monday.

Hang in there and good luck with Enbrel.....I still wonder which one is

the best, Enbrel, Humira or Remicade which is what my Mother is on.

Take care.

Hi Bunny,

No, I don't take MTX with the Enbrel. MTX lowers my white blood cell

count too much, so it's not a good med for me to take. Fortunately, the

Enbrel by itself works well for me. I do realize how lucky I am that it

does. Since my insurance company stopped covering Celebrex except with

an exorbitant co-pay, I have been taking arthritis-strength Tylenol,

along with an occasional Tramadol.

Sue,

Have you ever tried Arthrotec? It works much better than Celebrex

ever worked for me. I still have a lot of inflamation and I'm on so

many drugs that I'm not sure which one is working and which one isn't,

but my partner started taking Arthrotec and she said it's a miracle

drug! You might want to investigate if it might be something that

would help you.

I have been on Enbrel for over two years, and it does a wonderful job

for me. I don't have an adverse side effects, either. Once in a while,

I get a mild injection site reaction, but it's about like a mosquito

bite. I also do not get infections often. I hope that Enbrel works as

well for you as it does for me. Sue

I felt like I had more energy when I took it but it seemed to wear off quickly.

Had to get off of it because of frequent sinus infections though.

HI ,

I started taking Enbrel 3 weeks ago. My first dose made me drowsy, caused

muscle pain in my neck and shoulders, and gave me a lovely all day headache.

2nd dose headache only. 3rd dose, headache, gone with tylenol. No problems

at injections site first 2 times. I switched to my left thigh on the 3rd time

and had a little redness and swelling, don't know why , but it was painless

and gone after 3 days. Monday will be my 4th adventure. I suspect it will be

uneventful. As of this time, I've not noticed any improvement, but I

understand it can take a few more doses. I take 8 MTX on Thursdays, and take

my

Enbrel on Monday nights. I've also now had to start taking 50000 IU of Vitamin

D as I had a neg 15 level last week. so that day of the week is Friday. RA

is quite an adventure. Good luck and please let me know how you do on it.

I have been on enbrel since december, my second time around on enbrel. The

first time around was wonderful but due to insurance issues I had to go off of

it. The second time around has been ok. It keeps me going every day. I

haven't had any reactions from it. The hardest part for me is Friday evenings

when I have to do my shots. I have many stretch marks from my 2 kids and

finding a place to inject sometimes can be difficult. I inject in my stomach

because it is much easier for me to do so. I tried injecting into my legs but

have found that it hurts way too much for me. Thought about getting my

boyfriend to help me inject in my arm but he is visually impaired so not sure if

I want to go that route yet. I do not get any reaction at the injection site.

I was put on injectable MTX at .20 cc a week but at this point can not afford it

and what I did have for insurance wouldn't cover it. Now, I do not have

insurance and down to my last 5 shots so will be ordering more, but not sure how

I'm going to be paying for it at this point. I'm also on lamictal for bipolar,

it has also helped with a lot of the sensitivity issues of my nerves. I hope

some of this will help you, if not atleast I got a chance to talk about it.

Have a pain free day

I have been on Enbrel for five years, and have had no adverse side

effects. It works very well for me. I can't use Mtx because it

decreases my white blood cell count. The Enbrel alone is sufficient for

me.

HI ,

My experience with Enbrel is that the side effects lessen with each week. I

take mine on Mondays as well. The first time I got horrible neck and shoulder

muscle pain and a nasty headache, as well as tired. 2nd, 3rd and 4th times,

headache. When I took it last week, nothing! Good luck!

Hi Esther and welcome.  Enbrel started working for me within a week, along with

10mg of prednisone.  I stopped gelling up at my desk and during my commute.  I

also noticed much less morning stiffness and I had tons more energy.  I'm a huge

Enbrel fan!

Hi all,
