Effexor withdrawal help

I have a young friend who is insisted on quitting Effexor cold turkey.

She halved her dose one day, then stopped taking it the next. She

got through 24 hours before the headache hit. She was suppose to be

taking 225 mg/day but was taking more -- as much as 450 mg/day --

trying to feel better. Decided the answer was no more Effexor. She

has been on one antidepressant or another for about 5 years.

I have warned her that she is probably going to feel awful and that

she may become suicidal. But she is still insisting on cold turkey.

Anything she can take to make things easier?

Yes there are herbal and homeopathic remedies that can help a lot. But

she should not decrease her meds by more than about 5% at a time, then

level, then decrease again - slowly.

You can find out how to get off antidepressants safely at a group

Glitter moderates, called Withdrawal_and_Recovery. it's free, and the group

owner is a naturopathic doctor.

I know this but I can't tell her anything. Kids. She's an internet

friend, she's twenty (I'm old enough to be her grandmother), I have no

say. **sigh**

If she gets too bad and gets desperate, maybe I can stir her to

Glitter's board.

Thanks
