Thanks for your response. She says if my blood levels aren't abnormal I

shouldn't worry about a biopsy now, but I think I'll ask for one. Should I

start seeing a GI.? Also, what are some of the symptoms I should look for??

thanks

Dr:

I did 6 months of ifn in May of 1998. Then relapsed. Then did 6 months of

combo therapy in Jan 1999. And again relapsed. Is there any treatment

beyond these? My bx was done in 4/98. It showed chronic Hep C with moderate

activity (grade 3) and mild periportal fibrosis (stage 2). How bad is this?

How many grades and stages are there? I know its good that there is no

cirrhosis. Is there a need for another bx?

Thanks, Amy

,

Please go and see a GI doctor they at least know what hepatitis is and how to

treat it. There are so many things that decide if you need treatment or not

and the GI doctor can and will tell you all of them. We were misdiagnosed

for 3 years with a classic sign of Hepatitis C by a reg. doctor - they need

to be more educated either that or they don't care. Thank goodness we

finally went and found the right kind of doctor and now we have a chance of

fighting this dragon. 5 months on the Rebetron treatment and liver function

tests and enzymes are back to normal and the viral load is coming down. Stay

positive and investigate everything.
