A Continuing Medical Education Program

This 1 hour, live internet symposium will review and discuss the key studies on

assessing and managing Hepatitis Co-infection in HIV-positive patients. This

symposium will feature an interview of Mark Sulkowski, MD, one of the leading

experts on Hepatitis and Co-infection in HIV, by Calvin Cohen, MD, MS, Research

Director of CRI New England and Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School.

This program is certified for CME credit for US physicians by the Postgraduate

Institute for Medicine. This program is for health care providers who treat

HIV-positive patients, there are no prerequisites.

Learning Objectives:

Explain key clinical research evaluating ART regimens and strategies in HIV

patients with hepatitis co-infection;

Discuss the potential effect of untreated hepatitis co-infection on the clinical

course of HIV infection;

Describe data regarding the assessment and management of hepatitis co-infection

to improve the overall health of HIV-positive patients;

Select HIV and hepatitis co-infection treatment regimens that maximize each

patient's chance of long-term success and avoidance of HIV and hepatitis

co-infection complications.

While there is mutual recognition of CME credits between Europe and the US, an

application has been submitted to the European Union of Medical Specialists

(UEMS) for approval to provide direct EACCME accredited continuing medical

education for European participants.

Target Audience:

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians

involved in the care of patients with HIV infection.

Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education

(ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of Postgraduate Institute for Medicine
