Guest guest
Carol.. Sounds like plain old hives to me...don't be worried touching it. An allergic reaction " inside " his body, will not affect you. (sometimes hives itch, and sometimes they dont) It could be from a solvent if you changed laundry soap or something, but more likely something he ate. A different protein than he is used to, or something high fat. You mentioned that he has not quit drinking...did he switch to a new drink? Some light beers for example use rice instead of corn..if he was used to one that is one or the other, and then he switches...he could definitely react to it at first. Common allergens to avoid are...corn , peanuts, soy, meat and dairy, most grains. It takes a few days for the reaction to settle on its own..but some Benadryl will help him feel better if its uncomfortable.
Guest guest
" The spectrum of hepatitis C also includes several nonhepatic manifestations, including arthritis, keratoconjunctivitis sicca, lichen planus, glomerulonephritis, and essential mixed cryoglobulinemia (EMC). EMC is a syndrome marked by varying combinations of fatigue, muscle and joint aches, arthritis, skin rash (hives, purpura, or vasculitis), neuropathy, and glomerulonephritis. Cryoglobulins are found in serum composed of immune complexes of HCV and anti-HCV, immunoglobulins, rheumatoid factor, and complement. Hepatitis C appears to be the most common cause of EMC, a fact that was not appreciated before the availability of serological tests for HCV. Cryoglobulins are detectable in up to one-third of patients with chronic hepatitis C, but the clinical syndrome of EMC occurs in only 1-2 percent of patients. This syndrome can be severe, incapacitating, and even fatal. Resolution of the hepatitis C is followed by resolution of the EMC. Glomerulonephritis can also occur with hepatitis C; it usually represents the renal involvement of HCV-related EMC. Overall, this syndrome might best be called HCV-related systemic vasculitis. " http://www.hepnet.com/hepc/hoofnagl.html I have had a few times where the skin on my hands would itch like crazy. I would get small red bumps and no matter how much I scratched them I wouldn't get relief. I would literally scratch the skin off. The only way I would feel better was to run hot water over my hand. This was back in college, so the only place I went to was the nurse's station. They said that it was probably detergent, but I hadn't switched detergent. And it felt more than an allergic reaction, if that makes sense. I read about rashes being a symptom of Hep C a few years later. Come to think of it, I was drinking on a weekly basis. I have since quit. I don't know if that was the real cause of it, though. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi..when i was first dx about 6 yrs ago with Hep C..i was always itching and rash..my doctor gave me some creme and benyadry. Now i have notice over time..i am getting all those little red spots on arms, chest, they don't itch..just don't like my arms to show. I know it is from Hepatitis. I also have Cryo..so my feet and ankles are really bad, all purple and blue and red..can't even wear sandals. Was it this group..that sent the website about Cryo and such? I have gone thru the nausea stage in beginning..but now it is back for some reason.. i have also been under lots of stress..second biopsy showed i have gone up one stage. My liver hurts more and more..from inflamation. So, please everyone...avoid stress at all costs...eat right, exercise, stay busy.. and to all Caregivers...God Bless** -Sue In a message dated 6/19/2006 12:58:49 PM Pacific Daylight Time, Hepatitis C writes: 1. _Re: Body rash _ (http://us.lrd./_ylc=X3oDMTJyY2pldjJwBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzUyODk1Mj\ QEZ3Jwc3BJZAMxNjAwMTAzNTg5BG1zZ0lkAzEzNDczBHNlYwNkbXNnBHNsa wN2bXNnBHN0aW1lAzExNTA3NDcwOTI-;_ylg=1/SIG=127c9h4mh/**http:// /group/Hepatitis C/message/13473) Posted by: " kathleen byrne " _klb28791@... _ (mailto:klb28791@...?Subject= Re: Body rash) _klb28791 _ (klb28791) Sun Jun 18, 2006 11:01 pm (PST) I get red rashes on my neck, back, and chest. They aren't itchy, I don't notice them until I look in the mirror. Sometimes they last a few day other times a few hours. It look like a blush. The ones on my back leave spider vein and the ones on the front leave a small red dot that sometimes goes away. I may have just a quarter size rash or my the whole area is inflamed. My GP says it from HepC. At first I thought it was from my Catapres patch. But I realized it wasn't. My dermatologist says it probably from the Hepc. Guest guest
Body rash: I have the same symtoms on the back of my legs and my doc didn't know what it is. I tried fungal, cortisone, natural creams to add mosture and nothing worked. I think when I started using aloe vera gel it helped but very slowly. If you google red blotchs you'll find the term given at one of the websites. They say it's veins close to the surface but no treatment avalaible. I also would like to know how to take care of this. I've had them for 6 months now are they are fading away. > > My husband and I both have Hep C. Guest guest
Hi, I have the same rashes on my back. The body rash on my chest, turn into these little red dots. I use Aqua Glycolic on my face and started to use it on the rash and it seems to help. I got it from my dermatologist, when I had some skin cancer removed, didn't leave a scar, because I used it. I have been using the face cream for a couple of years and it has faded a lot of my blemishes. You can get it in the drug store the face cream runs around $17.00 and the body cream is cheaper. It is usually on the bottom shelf. Kathleen murtmlodecom <murtmlodecom@...> wrote: Body rash: I have the same symtoms on the back of my legs and my doc didn't know what it is.
