I totally agree, before I found out I had HepC when I drank I started

to react different, Severe abdominal pain and my tolerence level was

like 0. One beer would have me dizzy drunk. Since I found out I had

only one beer, same thing happened so forget it. I also have an

aversion to fried foods but a huge craving for suger. For two months

I have only wanted sugery foods or carbs, no meat really except for

chicken.

Bonnie

In the book Living With Hepatitis C, A Survivors Guide, they do say that *one*

occasional drink will not hurt someone who has *no* liver damage, but it is

better not to have anything. My hepatologist says the same thing, but says they

generally recommend not drinking at all because a good number of Hep C patients

have been substance abusers.

Marilyn

Drinking ??!!??

Naomi Judd and her doctors are about money... she was famous before, and

she's more famous now... drinking is out of the question no matter what some

quack says. When liver damage has occurred, the liver can no longer process the

alcohol and intoxication levels occur quickly, as well. I cannot believe some

of things you people are being told...

Bonnie,

It seems to be a common ingredient for those with Hep C, well alot of us

anyways, that sugar has its cravings... but, it is best to stick with fruit to

get your sugar intake. Stay away from adding sugar to things, or eating

pastries and cakes and so on. Sugar is well known for weight-gain and any

excess weight at all, ads tremendous burdons to the liver.

Meat as well, and chicken can have violent abdominal reactions and are very hard

for the liver to process. Only recently have I been making a list of those

foods which cause immediate tummy swelling or pain... it's important not to

burden the liver.

Marilyn,

Well, I question anyones ethics who claims that even one drink a day is okay

when any type of liver disease is present. Just because someone writes it, or

says it, doesn't mean it's the gospel... :) My Be In Charge program nurse

told me I could eat red meat... I really had to laugh at the ignorance on that

one.

So did I... we bought the leanest ground sirloin possible... but, my abdominal

area swelled within 30 minutes, and my liver was stressing... so, that went on

my list of things to avoid...

I think you may have misunderstood, I was talking about one *occasional* drink,

i.e., a toast at New Year's for instance. It's funny, though. The only thing I

ever drank was a good glass of wine with a good dinner. When I got my first

diagnosis, I didn't do that anymore. The only thing I'm " hooked " on now besides

steam-distilled water is Minute Maid Lemonade - must just be the acid that I

crave!

Thank God I knew the answer before he told me it wouldnt hurt to have a few

beers.

Yep....I feel like he's a quack too.

Naomi didnt pick her doctor......she had a team of close friends and family

members research and locate the top doc in the field.......She got no special

treatment other than major privacy concerning her treatment.

The fact that she hasn't led a movement to help anyone else in her shoes

makes me feel like she's lacking something in the christian department......

I dont know what her problem is or even care.

I know where to find the team that treated her....and I'm in line!!!!!

It's the animal fat that the liver has a hard time processing.

I was told and have read that broiled fish is the closest to meat we should

go.

any animal product can contain pathogins that could be fatal to us with

compensated livers.
