Guest guest
I want to say 'Thank You' to Princess..My 2 doctors, the gastroenterologist and the family practice doctor have been communicating for months back and forth as to how to get me on the list for the medication..I called the number Princess gave and now I'm on the list.as simple as that..so everyone should know that the patient is the one that must call.. I asked my family doctor about changing gastro enterologist doctor and she says he's the only one that cares for hepatitis patients.the next closest would be 250 miles from us..so I may be stuck with a doctor that doesn't know s***. Oh.by the way.I was told it would be early fall before my name comes up on the list..almost a year from the time I was diagnosed. In the meantime, the cell damage continues...discouraged...judy ID Number Sandy, Call 888-437-2608 and what you are looking for is the Access Assurance ID number option, to apply... once you do that, it will take from 4 weeks to 4 months before your medicine will be authorized. The ID number and a letter will arrive via postal mail to you. Princess www.studioreflections.com Re: Jack PRINCESS: HOW DO YOU APPLY FOR AN ID NUMBER? Guest guest
Judy, You are most welcome my dear... at least we got you on the list. Many doctors don't know the proper procedure just yet, at least for the Peg-Intron drugs... if I can be of any further help, please don't hesitate to ask. In the meantime, be sure you tell your doctor that you've registered for the treatment with Access Assurance and that you want your written prescription for it... when the ID number comes to you, you are ready to start and will need to get that prescription filled... it takes about 48 hours for the pharmacies to get it in --- they don't stock it, it's too expensive. There can also be last minute insurance problems wanting further proof or whatever, you just have to see, but have that written prescription with you ahead of time, that's important. Guest guest
Princess.my gastroenterologist is suppose to be in his office for 2 hours tomorrow morning. I am going to call and ask very nicely for the prescription and if he gives me any flak, I am going to find myself another doctor then fire this one. I don't believe he is the only one in Springfield.I believe he may be the only one working through the one hospital that owns the doctors clinic and etc. I'm at the point of doing what is best for me instead of waiting for the doctors to get their act together. I can't thank you enough for your help..judy Re: ID Number Judy, You are most welcome my dear... at least we got you on the list. Guest guest
Judy, Sometimes we have to take matters into our own hands... just get yourself a doctor to write you the prescription... the ID number is only good for 90 days I think, so you have to be sure to fill the prescription as soon as you can when your ID number is assigned to you. Otherwise, you starting the waiting list all over again, and that sucks... Princess www.studioreflections.com Re: Jack PRINCESS: HOW DO YOU APPLY FOR AN ID NUMBER? Guest guest
I recently changed pharmacy and I'm now using walgreens. The service is much better and I can reorder over the internet. My doctors office orginally had me use a company first in Pittsburgh and then here in chicago. It was a pain calling them and then waiting some time until 9pm for them to deliver. Now, I just use the computer and they call me and let me know its ready. mark --- Princess <wistful@...> wrote: > Judy, > > You are most welcome my dear... at least we > got you on the list. Guest guest
Two forms of peginterferon have been developed and studied in large clinical trials: peginterferon alfa-2a (Pegasys®: Hoffman La Roche: Nutley, NJ) and peginterferon alfa-2b (Pegintron®: Schering-Plough Corporation, Kenilworth, NJ). These two products are roughly equivalent in efficacy and safety, but have different dosing regimens. Peginterferon alfa-2a is given subcutaneously in a dose of 180 mcg per week. Peginterferon alfa-2b is given subcutaneously weekly in doses of 1.5 mcg per kilogram per week (thus in the range of 75 to 150 mcg per week). According to the following link Pegasys http://www.hivandhepatitis.com/hep_c/news/041902a.html The double combination of Pegasys (peginterferon alfa-2a) plus ribavirin produces some of the best clinical results ever seen for patients with chronic hepatitis C, especially for those with genotype 1, according to data from an international, multicenter, randomized Phase III trial presented today (April 18, 2002) at the 37th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (37th EASL) in Madrid, Spain. Here's the deal Pegasys is not yet approved by the FDA for use in the USA. From what I read, Roche is expecting FDA approval this fall. Im Genotype 1, and am trying to find out how much better Pegasys 2a is than that of Schering-Plough 2b??????? Can anybody answer this one? I'm Steve, and am on the wagon for 6 months before I can start treatments. December will be my start date. I will find out what I can about Pegasys combo treatment and let everyone know. Guest guest
Stevie, Thanks for the info and good luck to you. I have a brother in Texas that is going through many test and has not got his results that I know of. But he has been in and out of rehabs. and prison and is a heavy drinker and going to a Methadone Clinic. Don't know about anyone else but this Methadone thing to me is just a legal way for the Government to make money off it. He says he is more hooked on the Methadone that Heroin and getting off of Methadone can kill you. He is frightened to death about having to detox from Alcohol and Methadone. I just can't stand to think about it.
