Guest guest
According to the early results from the HALT-C study, genotype 1 responded to treatment, sustained response, 14% of the time. This is no where NEAR the " unofficial " amount you have here Suzy. The reason they haven't come forth with a report on the progression is that they still aren't sure that treatment stops or slows the progression. Inflammation is much different than fibrosis and it can go up and down. Mine has gone from grade 2 to grade 3 to grade 2 over and over again. It actually dropped to grade 2 two years after no treatment whatsoever. Because viral load tests do not go down to zero most experts still say that it may be Undetected, but they don't know where else it may be hiding, such as in the liver itself or the thyroid. If they ever come up with a perfect test, then I will finally believe the " cure " word. They have never been able to cure a virus yet so ....... Guest guest
Good Morning, I would just like to add that I agree with Suzy. I am stage 0-1, grade 1, genotype 1 and I have decided to do the treatment. I live in the Philadelphia area and all of the doctors I have seen tell me the success rate of type 1 is much higher than most of the data suggests on the internet. It is more like 60% sustained response. I am responding to treatment with minimal side effects. I would hope that anyone with genotype 1 gives treatment some serious consideration and not just assume that it won't work. I strongly believe that a positive attitude, and eating healthy, amongst many other things, can help with your illness & outcome on and off treatment. There isn't a doubt in my mind that I will beat this and so far, so good. Guest guest
Go for it, chris! You have the intestinal fortitude, LOL. I pray you will remain side effect free. But if you don't, feel free to email me directly--I had them ALL at one time or another during the 48 weeks. And I'm still depression free, yes, and free from all other symptoms I had for years! It is worth the year I was sick and miserable. Godspeed to you, Warrior Woman! Suzy -- In Hepatitis C , " " <chrissea10@h...> wrote: > Good Morning, > I would just like to add that I agree with Suzy. Guest guest
Congratulations Suzy on your success and it is so encouraging to hear how great you feel. I can't wait to be done so that I can feel better than I have in years. I do have some mild side effects but nothing I need to complain about. Thank you for your encouragement.
