Guest guest
Had my first day in PT yesterday. PT says there isn't much they can do for me since the doctor ordered no traction. Is this a bad sign? I mean, just what will PT do to help me at this point? Both specialists recommends surgery, but I chose the conservative approach by taking pills and PT. Now I feel like the PT is a waste of time, although it did feel good with the heat and electrodes. The little bit of exercises I had been doing at home all along, which isn't much. I'm not in severe pain or I can just take it more than someone else. I only suffer when I do activities that mess me up; like raking, sweeping, bending too much, vacuuming, riding in a car too long, turning upper body and neck too much. If I avoid surgery, which is what I would like to do, I hate the thought I cannot do normal everyday stuff; but I think I could live with that. The problem is the doctors scared me when they said if more damages occur in the area, C5-7 where MRI showed deformity to the central portion of the cord and severe spinal stenosis. I don't want to lose all my functions from the neck on down. You know! It also showed mild bulging at C2-3 not causing any spinal stenosis. I've heard from a few friends saying they knew someone that had it done and person felt better. I've read online where some are in worse shape after surgery. Back surgery isn't something you want to think about. I feel like 'Catch 22'; am damn if I do and damn if I don't. Someone please talk to me.
