Hi..how are you...I agree with you about the cure or fix. In Europe they can 'install' articifial disks but here FDA will take 30 years to approve it..

what they do right now does not work..my husband is example.

God bless and take care

today, back in the hospital; we didnot make it to her appt. they found

bulging discs or a disc; info from another hosp, so they didn't have all the

info. we are getting her checked out this week with normal docs and not the

er. i too sometimes get those spasms at night. she had spasms similar to

that and then her seizures were like your daughter-she would go limp too.

other seizures i have been witnessed too the patient always went rigid. not

sure what the difference is. thank you for thinking of us. i will keep you

posted.

Rob, I hope they figure out soon what is causing your wife to do this. My best friends neice got very sick, she lost all kinds of weight. They took out her gallbladder. But still she was sick. Her husband rushed her to the hospital by the grace of God their was a doctor their that Knew right away what she might have. After a year of fighting being sick she finally had a name for her being sick. However the diagnois was not good at all she has disease. Which could be fatal if not monitored very closely. She is only 21.

disc bulges; that's what they're saying now. we have to go thru a family

doctor, then get his referal, then go see whoever she really needs to see

first. if the added work that she's had to do because of my back, has

somehow hurt hers (supposedly bulging disc in neck and back) i don;t know

what ill do.

today topped it off. i missed my last pm appt and couldn't get in for a

month later(kinda like punishment for missing appt) so it's been 7 weeks

since my last shot (which they haven't found the right place yet anyways but

it's the possibility that they'll get it right that keeps me mentally

going).

in my state your medicaide card (state insurance) goes to another crappier

health care in a few months. i did not know this as this was my first time

without insurance from my job. i get to my appt today to find that they do

not take this new insurance. they could not refer me to anybody that does

take it; and so far i can't find one either. I got one last script for my

meds and a handshake; and i dont know what to do anymore. my wife hasn't

been able to work in almost three weeks, and today i found out my in laws

had had to take out a loan to help us this far. im receiving all the state

help i can get and it's not enough. my dad goes in for a cardiac

catherization (?) tomorrow to determine when/how they will perform his heart

surgery in the next month or two. what else can happen; i know their are

other people in the world and probably in this group that have it just as

bad if not worse, but i dont know they handle it. i'm still trying to deal

with my friend dying a few months ago. sorry i just got done calling all

these places and i just got so frustrated with it all. thanks for

listening.

got some appt for my wife. she has to sit at home and have her seizures,

because the hospital does not believe that they are real, and they have run

numerous tests with no results. they say she is a drug addict and refuse to

treat her. my father goes in for heart surgery on may 22 so we could use

some prayers there as well. thank you for the prayers. i think they may be

working :)

stupid hospitals

but at least we have finally nailed down a pcp and are now able to get her

referals and such. she had a psychiatrist yesterday, and a nerologist on

monday. someone will help eventually. now i have to find a pcp and a new

pain doc. im so tired of this. ugh. oh well, a new experience and lessons

learned i guess.

take care

We admit we are "learning lurkers", but love the info & bondness of this group, you all seem to help & encourage each other so much ... a rare commodity now-a-day! :-)LOVE IT!!

Our prayers are with you Rob & your family!

I admire how strong both of you have been throughout this whole ordeal, with these "physicians" (using the word loosely, as they seem to have been anything but!)

Prayer's are going up for the new pcp, doc's, and your Dad! Keep the faith!

God bless you!!

Kind Regards,

Sam & Marisol.

Thank you guys for the support and prayers. It truly is a wonderful group.

When i first joined this group my wife was taking care of me, as i've had

two back surgeries already. Now, it's my turn to help her, but in my

condition both mentally and physically it has been hard for me. The group

has helped alot, with info, support, prayers, and suggestions. so, though

i am alone here (in the area we live-no family and a handful of friends) i

do not feel so alone with the group and all of their kindness, and caring.

what brings you to the group? i might have missed your posts in regards to

that. if you haven't posted and have questions, thee are definately lots of

people here with answers, but you probably already know that. again thank

you; lately, it's posts like yours that help give me the strength to to just

deal with daily activities. take care and i hope you guys find what you're

looking for here.

FOREWARNING: This is a bit on the long side?

Good afternoon all,

My name is Marisol, and after all the reading I have done within this wonderful group ... I'm almost ashamed that I'm here!

I have not had any surgeries to my spine or fusion, or anything really.

In Dec of 2005 I was so bad with Sciatica that I was literally on all four in the ER, I could not stand, and my pain level on the little "happy-sad face chart" was a 10!

After that, they found me a bed REAL QUICK!

I was given every pain killer under the sun (or so it felt like it) I was able to limp out of the ER after 2 hrs.

Next came the trips to the Ortho, and I was told I had DDD, and an onset of early arthritis (I will be 30 in August) and permanent leg nerve damage, due to staying so long without treatment.

You might be wondering why I was for so long without treatment, truth be told, while homeschooling a special needs 7yr son, a 3 yr toddler and 9 yr old daughter, taking my son to his PT, OT, and ST 3X a week and having our own farm ... I kind of am guilty of just passing it off as "just a sore back" till I was in bed for a day ... then it was a "pulled back" then I found that I was in bed for 2 days ... this was a "back went out" stage for me and so, on and on I kept telling myself it would get better ... well, then came the ER scenario ... and now back to the ORtho visit where I just started bawling when I was told I had permanent nerve damage in my leg ... I could not sit, my trips were me laying down in the back with the back seat down, I don't know how we were never stopped by the police??

Anyway, I received two cortisone shots a month apart from one another, and that's it. I still have soreness and some pain and there are just position I can NOT get into like sitting STILL, but hey, I'm thankful I can get out of bed and work with my children.

I can no longer drive because of the sitting issues, so my son does his therapies at home and we are all chugging along here ...slowly but surely.

I just wish there where exercises I could do to strengthen my abdominal muscles to help my back ... oh almost forgot .. I also lost 54lbs and my husband and I think that has also helped my back?? who knows, it's just our theory?

I firmly believe the Lord put His divine hand on me and has maintained me how I am, but sure do get nervous some days, when it takes me 10 mins to get out of bed instead of 1!

To Rob and family, keep up your strength and don't lose your hope, better times are ahead. You and your family are pressing on our hearts and with your permission I would like to add you all to our prayer list in our church?

~~~
I am super impress with all that write in and are so brave with there pains and there with their situations. I feel moved everyday with everyone's strength. CONGRATS & THANK YOU!!
God bless you all.
Many Kind Regards,
Sam & Marisol.
i sort of did the same thing. i worked even though i knew something was
wrong with my back; i needed to work though. so i ended up with two back
surgeries. one right before turning 30 and one almost a year later for a
big fusion.
t be wondering why I was for so long without treatment, truth be told, while
i lost approx. 50 lbs in an effort to help my back. i think it helped some,
but like you i want to strengthen my stomach in an effort to help my back.
but i haven't found any excersises i can physicaly do. sitting is my worst
position, followed by standing still. driving is easier for me then being
the passenger (i can not lay down in our vehicle) i use the steering wheel
for support and to help adjust my position. i also think knowing when im
about to hit a bump or pot hole also helps me to brace mmyself a little.
i would greatly appreciate, and am very touched that you would do this for
us. we haven't made it to church in quite some time; at least a month.
which is really bad, but i try and keep her around the house lately because
of her seizures. last night we were talking in bed and i noticed she was
kind of spacing out. i asked if she was ok and she said she was fine and
didn't know what i was talking about. she went to stand up and get
something and only made it as far as swinging her legs off the bed before
starting to seize. it is not plesant and quite a scary site. plus now
that i can't call for any help i have to sit and watch her go through about
2-4 seizures before she totally regains consciousness. hopefully the
nerologist will be able to help her tomorrow.
have you tried getting a pain management doctor? they should be able to
help you with the pain that the shots don't get rid of. you should
definately not feel ashamed for being in this group. your pain is just as
real as the rest of ours! i'm glad that you found us (the group) and hope
you get the help and support you need. thank you again it means alot and
helps alot as i am a mental basket case lately.
take care
thank you Babs,
monday is the day for my wife; hopefully they will diagnos her then. My dad
is pretty healthy for his age, but surgery is surgery and i guess there is
no guarantee that everything will go right. i asked my dad, and he is
confident in his doctor's abiities so that is good. it's all in God's
hands. sitting around waiting for all of this is very nerve racking. take
care of yourself.
Rob,
Thank you for your kind words.
Even though I have not been able to write back, you wife as well as your whole family has been in prayer.
I am so sorry that you have had/are having such a rough time. You and your wife surely are strong people.
Keep hanging in there.
I don't believe you vent "poor me" stories. Your situation is real and even if physically you can't do anything, it always helps to talk about it (at least that's how I feel) and get feed back from others. Along the way picking up some prayer too!
WOW, 2 back surgeries, like I said before ... I feel anyone that has gone through a back surgery should receive an award. I have always heard such horror stories when it comes to back surgery. My mother had to have back surgery at the age of 22 because of a hernia and I can't believe the scar she has! Even after that she always had back problems. My hats off to anyone that has gone through with it. I know you probably didn't have a choice in the matter due to pain, or necessity, but still ... my hats off to you ... you are truly brave in my book!!
So, you didn't find that losing those 50 lbs helped any? I was 180 and now I'm 128, and this I believe (after the Lord, then the shots) helped me out a lot!
How ironic, the worst position for me IS driving! I can sit in the passenger side laying the seat almost all the way down (now, not before).
Anyway, I just want you to know that just as you told me, you should not feel ashamed to vent either!
You have every right to vent just as the rest of us. YOu have ever reason to do so especially with what you are going through. Keep your strength up and don't forget about yourself too. I hope your Dad's surgery went well.
Please keep us posted on your lovely wife's situation, as she & you are deeply remembered here!
God bless you all!
TGIF,
Marisol.
Rob,
Thank you for your kind words.
Even though I have not been able to write back, you wife as well as your whole family has been in prayer.
I am so sorry that you have had/are having such a rough time. You and your wife surely are strong people.
Keep hanging in there.
I don't believe you vent "poor me" stories. Your situation is real and even if physically you can't do anything, it always helps to talk about it (at least that's how I feel) and get feed back from others. Along the way picking up some prayer too!
WOW, 2 back surgeries, like I said before ... I feel anyone that has gone through a back surgery should receive an award. I have always heard such horror stories when it comes to back surgery. My mother had to have back surgery at the age of 22 because of a hernia and I can't believe the scar she has! Even after that she always had back problems. My hats off to anyone that has gone through with it. I know you probably didn't have a choice in the matter due to pain, or necessity, but still ... my hats off to you ... you are truly brave in my book!!
So, you didn't find that losing those 50 lbs helped any? I was 180 and now I'm 128, and this I believe (after the Lord, then the shots) helped me out a lot!
How ironic, the worst position for me IS driving! I can sit in the passenger side laying the seat almost all the way down (now, not before).
Anyway, I just want you to know that just as you told me, you should not feel ashamed to vent either!
You have every right to vent just as the rest of us. YOu have ever reason to do so especially with what you are going through. Keep your strength up and don't forget about yourself too. I hope your Dad's surgery went well.
Please keep us posted on your lovely wife's situation, as she & you are deeply remembered here!
God bless you all!
TGIF,
Marisol.
thank you for your words of encouragement. i am not very strong; my family
and life is falling apart all around me and i don't know what to do about
any of it anymore. no one will help my wife, and she is the anchor for the
family. i can take pain, i've lived with it since the marines but she can't
and with her down it's hard, but with her wanting to just give up - it's
impossible. The last time we went to the ER because we were an hour away
from home and she started having seizures. i called an ambulance and they
took her to the hospital in that area. I told them her history, i told
them her medication, her doctors names. They did not believe the meds she
was on for her panic attacks and assumed that she was withdrawing from them
and threw her in the crisis ward. lied to me about it and i didn't get to
see her for 3 days. she was assualted, urinated on and screamed at by crazy
people. all the while being denied treatment and the meds she was already
on; why, because she was having panic attacks from not having meds and being
in a crazy place with people deficating and putting it on the walls. so
they assumed the worse about her and didn't check with any of her doctors.
she has no relief from the seizures or the pain they are causing her. she
has bulging discs in her neck and back and they are getting worse while we
wait for appts from doctors who so far dont appear to believe or care about
her. if we survive another month physically, mentally i will be amazed. i
really did appreciate what you wrote, and have written; and i wish i was a
more supportive force in the group. i used to be able to tell people it
will be ok, or pass along helpful information - but haven't been very good
in that dept lately. heck im about a week behind on posts. thank you for
your prayers, you and your husband are in ours as well. I hope he finds
some relief soon too. God bless.
