Guest guest
Helen, Yes there is another Helen on the board, and she lives in MN as do I. We had our JAM last weekend, and I don't know where the final tally will come, but I do know that it was at $81,000 towards the end. I think we are the only walk in the country dedicated to Juvenile Arthritis. We do it at an odd time. Our's was just last weekend, and normally there is a hefty snow fall on the evening of the walk. It was very well attended, and our kids had great recognition. Alia and Helen were both on the JAM committee, and they did an outstanding job this year. I would believe there were over 1000 people there! YEA! Enjoy the rest of your day, it is about 45 degree in MN and wonderful outside! and Allie (11 poly) ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Helen Pense Sent: Tuesday, March 11, 2008 3:39 PM Subject: Re: Congrats / Thanks to Alia, Helen and MN JAM Is there another Helen in the group cuz I live in DC. Guest guest
Thank you Colleen!!!! JAM (Juvenile Arthritis March) was a HUGE success this year thanks to our committee!!! I am proud to have served as the chair of the event and also to have Caroline be the ambassador As of yesterday (DRUM ROLL......) we had raised OVER $100,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have until the end of the month to turn in money so hopefully we still get some more in!! Caroline's Crew has raised close to $7,000 this year which is double what we made last year and we had the largest team with over 80 walkers!!! (Nothing compared to Miss Caitlin, but one day we will rival you!)..... I don't know how many people for sure we had, but I would estimate it was close to 1400 walkers... And 80 walkers is tremendous! We'll be fortunate to have that many this year... and it is we who would rival you... as your walk is all for JA!!!! Great job - I hope I can make it there one year! Guest guest
Thanks Colleen!! Yes, it is an amazing walk as all of it benefits JA. I wish that more chapters would take on walks like this as they are so impressive and meaningful to the parents and all our kids! We hope to see you here one day too - that would be incredible!!! Guest guest
Thanks Colleen and everyone. I will try to post some pictures tonight. JAM was AWESOME!! I was so proud work with all the amazing people on the committee. Alia did such a fantastic job as our chair. I don't think we will ever let her leave that position now!! I think we grew about 30-40% it was just amazing. I wish all chapters would do a juvenile walk, it is such a powerful experience for the children. We did not do a well as Alia , who won the award for the biggest team, was a top fundraiser AND Caroline was the honoree, but we did our part!! Nicks team was about 34 strong this year. We won the award for the best team theme/costume. We were " racing 4 a cure " Nickynoodles dog sled team. I converted a wagon into a sled and made a harness for 8 " dogs " the dogs wore furry ears that I made out of fun fur. We painted their noses and their names were the names of the medications the kids taken which hung on a dog tag around their necks. Nick had a blast sitting in the sled mushing his dogs along with his mush whip ( made from ribbon, so no dogs were hurt in the making of this walk )) Now its time to start working on next years idea!! it was an honor and a pleasure to be associated with such a fantastic event!! I promise photos soon. hugs Helen and (10,systemic) p.s Hi to the other Helen, you are right its not a common name here, but I am from England where it is much more common. I have lived in MN for 20 years now!) but I still talk funny!!Hugs..Helen DH Dan (24)(17)(15)Zachary(12)(9) (8) @...: sonia1md@...: Wed, 12 Mar 2008 04:35:29 +0000Subject: Re: Congrats / Thanks to Alia, Helen and MN JAM That is absolutely amazing!
