Hi,

New to the forum. Our 4 year old son Christian was recently

diagnosed with JRA, no diagnoses on which form though. He has been

taking naproxen for about 1 and 1/2 months, he was taking Prednisone

for 30 days, that really seemed to help him, but now he is taking

MTX. I am a pharmacy tech. I know what it is but I don't have any

personal experience with it. I was hoping that maybe I could get

some insight from other people who has had experience with it. He is

taking 7.5mg once weekly. He is taking the injectable form by mouth,

just gave him his second dose yesturday. Wondering if anyone out

there has given or taken mtx this way. He is not showing any sings

of it working. He can't sleep through the night, this is affected

his knees, ankles, wrists and fingers, his elbow as well. He is

hurting and I know I can't take it away, but if there is anyone with

any advice for me to help his pain. I will take any I can get. We

also have 4 more kids, (mine, his and ours) who have been feeling

very left out. I am trying not to baby Christian but I can't help

it. I don't want our other kids feeling unhappy or unimportant

either though. Christian is the youngest. They know what he has and

they try to understand it too, but they are all 10 and under so it is

hard for them to really understand, hell I don't really understand

either. I have been looking for a support system for about a month

and I found the one on arthritis.org, then I found you. So hopefully

we can find other families to share our stories and experiences with.

thank you,
