Just to clarify, Dr. A doesn't charge anything, it's the hospital that charges for the xray room, radiologist, etc. And you can pay with a credit card now (YEA!!) but the hospital will charge 3% or 5% or some such fee to cover their credit card processing fees. Crazy4catz.... I wouldn't make airline reservations right away unless you can change them. Not everyone needs a fill that early on. Some don't need a fill for months and a verrry small number never need a fill. However, it seems like most need a fill soon. Yes, if you can get a good deal on tickets right now I would plan on it. I have only heard of one person that didn't need a fill right away. Don't torture yourself. But I can answer two of your questions, Reading the postings, you can take a friend or spouse along, but they, of course, are responsible for lodging expenses, local travel etc. I usually search for the lowest fares on www.kayak.com, but I do not always buy from Kayak. Most of the time the offer is on the Airline's website, too, and you can save a few dollars that Orbitz or Cheaptickets charge. www.travelzoo.com is another site you may try, and do comparison shopping. My home dr. put me on medication and made an appointment for six weeks later. I was lucky enough to get in contact with Tonia from this group. (She has a son with achalasia) When I went to my appointment I discovered that I knew more about achalasia than he did. I ended up going to Dr. Rice in Cleveland and have never regretted it. I had my records sent to Cleveland and Dr. Rice reviewed them, called me and set up an appointment, all the tests needed and also allowed time for the Hellar Myotomy if need be. This was all within one weeks time. It was such a relief to be around doctors and nurses who understood achalasia. If you are looking for a surgeon I strongly suggest you find one who is VERY experienced with achalasia. My surgery was very successful and I am able to eat everything I want. I also have no acid reflux so I do not need to be on medication. If I can be of any help pleast let me know. I have sever pain in both of my legs from my hip to my toes. I had tried EVERYTHING and my last try was the SCS I was really leary about it because I was only 18 years old at the time. I finally decided to go through with it and for the most part I am glad I did. I got about 60% relief for the first few months. My pain level had been consistently at about a 9 on a scale of 1-10. The SCS brought me down to a 5 for the most part so it was a huge relief in my eyes. The hardest part I did have with it however was the recovery. It was for me a good solid 8 weeks after the surgery before I could do much of anything because I couldn't twist, turn, bend, lift or reach. That was the hardest part for me. And I really did not want to risk moving the leads. Other than that I am really glad I did go through with it. My pain has now spread to my right leg so I have to have one of my leads removed from my back and replaced so I will be having the whole surgery again. Not looking forward to the recovery but if I can get relief that is all I care about! As far as the intercourse goes I find it extremely difficult to do with my SCS turned on so I have to turn it off. Luckily the the relief from the stimulation lasts long enough to not put me in a tremendous amount of pain. Any other ?'s just let me know. Anyway, just to update it, I went to GNC and bought the Designer Whey. It's not as good as the Champion Pure Whey Stack in my opinion. But it's not bad. The taste is not totally offensive, and I can live with it for now. I may try adding some plain cocoa powder to it. I am still interested in any thoughts or information on my other two questions regarding the weird sweet taste and the extended release medications if anyone knows the answers to those. Thnaks. Guest guest Posted January 6, 2008 Report Share Posted January 6, 2008 Heidi, unless the big pharma puppets have even made the flu shot mandatory, for which parents can take out an exemption, I fail to understand why any person would voluntarily have toxins injected into his or her bloodstream, in particular since ethical (yes, there are still plenty of those around) researchers and physicians have been pointing out over and over again that flu vaccinations are totally useless and ineffective and in fact are causing the flu.
