here's the weird thing Keim, I am a doctor. Not an orthopedist, an

newly remarried, I was nearly fatally injured during a hiking

accident. I appreciate your input.

I hope all is well.

You sound very normal to me....Everyone recovers at a differnet pace and at 2 weeks you are still going to hurt...Take your pain meds and do your exercises...When I sit too long, my knees get very stiff and painful, even now , 4 months out...so try not to sit too long.... I did feel a rubbing at times, but that has gotten better too... I did wake up at night hurting ....it was a long time before I slept thru the night, but that will get better ....Take a sleeping pill if you have any or ask your doctor for a Rx.....

Try to be patient, it takes a long time to heal......it will get better!

I understand it hasn't been two weeks yet but I know some people that were off pain pills almost as soon as they left the hospital. I take my pain pills 3 times a day and sometimes wake up at night hurting. JJ

Thanks Marguerite, I guess I may be rushing it. We would all like

to say " POOF " and everything be better. I know so little about this

and I am sure I ask to many questions. I go Wednesday to see my Dr.

and he should be able to tell how I am doing. JJ

Hi Carolyn,

No, I don't believe I've ever been tested for rheumatoid arthritis, but I guess

that's something I need to bring up when I can find a dr. Hopefully I can start

looking again after Monday's holiday, it's been hard to get in to even see my

regular drs.! Thanks for the idea.

Sincerely,

knee pain

Considering the fact that weight loss did NOT help, and with the other symptoms

you described, it just sounds to me more like a rheumetoid kind of thing. Have

you been tested for rheumetoid arthritis? I apologize if you have already

answered that question, I may have missed it.

To Welynda,

This would be a good time to have both your knees evaluated by an

orthopaedic surgeon. Do not waste your time on a GP or RD. They will

either get xrays or xrays and an MRI. Once they get the results they still

will not know how to treat you. If you live in the U.S.. and do not have

an ortho doctor you trust go to www.AAHKS.org and use the physician

locater to find one near you.

Remember you are not obligated to have surgery if you see a surgeon.

All good treatment surgical or non-surgical begins with a correct

diagnosis.

I apologize for not posting lately. So much has happened. After 30 non-

stop years of work, I retired on Dec. 19th secondary to my ongoing

Stills. A week ago I had my right (dominant arm) shoulder re-constructed

secondary to a paralyzed muscle another Stills problem.

As you can probably guess my typing is really slow. The surgeon says

my final result will give back some of my previous function but it will

take at least a year for a near final result.

In March I will start school to earn a masters degree in adult education.

I really hope by then I can type faster.

Try to have a pain-free day everyone,

Hi. I haven't posted in a long time, but I try to read most of the posts. I've

been really depressed because I am in pain constantly. Even my pain pills just

barely touch the pain. When I'm sitting, I'm o.k., but when I stand I can barely

walk. Trying to go up or down a step is like approaching Mt. Everest. Most of

the pain is in my knees. I can't clean my house; I don't want to do anything but

sit in a chair, because it hurts too much. Sometimes I don't even want to fix

myself something to eat because it hurts so much. And this pain depresses me

sooooooooo much. Mostly because I can't do anything. Oh, well - - I'm just

ventings. Thanks for listening.d Welynda

Hi, Love your name...it is my daughter's name, only we spell it Reigna :)

knee pain

Hi

I've been to see my OS today and have been told that I will need a TKR in the

future but as I'm only 52 they try to postpone it as long as possible.

I have a creaky, generally painful and slow to get moving knee, which i can live

with for a few more years, but I also have a small painful area on the inside of

my knee that hurts like a bad toothache when I sit in the wrong position. I

asked if this could be my extra bone growth pushing on a nerve (it feels like

nerve pain to me) but was told no if it was a nerve i would get loss of

sensation in my lower leg. Does anyone recognize this problem and what were you

told?

Thanks

pain there dealing with..but I had the same pain and these are the things that i

went thru plus i went to pain management for thast pain which they thought was

nerve pain..i had 3 nerve blocks it calmed it down alot..Nerve pain is not only

loss of feeling because that wasnt it .it was the sharp pain  and the burning

feeling and redness on the inside of my calf down to the top of my foot..The

weather made it worse, the sun, hot baths , just about any

thing i did..The more knee pain the more nerve pain..Make sure they determine

what it is knee pain, or nerve pain..In my case it felt the same..and still

suffering even after all the surgeries and now they dont know what to do....I

have the best dr's in boston and still havent been able to get me out of pain

waiting for another bone scan...wish me luck..Ohhh and what helps the nerve pain

I use lidocaine patches 3 at a time but only stays on 12 on 12 off, also

amtriptyne helps the nerve pain and helps you sleep....Good luck and you have to

Hi Bee,

I have another question. I've always had bad knees but lately my right knee has

been hurting really bad. I believe it's inflammation being it mainly is a

burning/throbbing feeling. It's more of a sharp pain than a dull one also. I'm

not sure if it's just inflamed or toxins or what. Should I go to the doctor and

get xrays? Should I take white willow bark to see if that helps the

inflammation? Any advice would be great.

Thanks again!

> Hi Bee,

This is Judy V. again. It has been 2 and a half months since I broke my leg and

badly twisted my body. I had many x-rays, each time that I visited the 'bone

doc'. After the first two visits, I was wondering why he would have (at least

three) x-rays, even though I was healing well, and the bone was setting okay

(Could this be why my ankle and elbow still hurt?).

+++Hi Judy. Yes, that why you ankle and elbow still hurt since your body now

has to detoxify the radiation from the x-rays. Ensure you are taking the

correct doses of niacin (B3), along with B complex. Niacin helps your body get

rid of radiation and that is mainly why people get a flush, itch, and some

people even get rashes at the site of x-rays when they are coming out.

>>> I am wondering why my elbow (where I scraped it) has a swollen ulnar nerve,

and I cannot pick anything up well. Wrapping the elbow hurts even more!

+++The nerve could be trying to heal, so that's the reason it swells.

>>I have tried to rub on clove oil, but it doesn't work very effectively.

+++Oil of oregano is better than clove oil. Just mix it 50/50 with olive oil

and rub it on. You can soak some gauze with it and tape it on, replenishing the

oil as needed.

>> p.s. would the x-rays cause reduced bone density?

+++I don't know whether x-rays directly reduce bone density, however they do

increase toxins your body has to deal with, and they do cause cancer.

All the best, Bee

Hi Bee,

The other day I asked about my knee pain and you asked if I could be retracing.

I've always had bad knees being a dancer for 12 years but nothing like this pain

so I don't think it's retracing.

Recently I told you I've been doing light aerobics and I'm thinking I may have

hurt it while jumping around.

I'm wondering if I tore something? I know you said to not get xrays but what

should I do? If I did tear something or cartilage is detached from the bone

shouldn't I go to the doctor? Isn't the only way they can tell what the pain is,

is by doing an xray?

The pain I'm having is in the inside of my knee cap and it's a sharp twisting

pain that almost throbs.

What should I do at this point? I really don't want to see a doctor but what if

I did injure it?

Thanks for your help!

@@ Hi ,

I advise you get your injury assessed, since diagnostics is one thing Doctors

are trained to do. You can detox an x-ray if necessary. Any drugs prescription

need not be filled.

Its better to put your mind at ease and have some idea what you need to address,

if anything. You are very welcome for the help.
