Very true! My daughter was just exposed to Chicken Pox and her rheumy

says " no worry...she'll be fine " Her pediatricians are VERY worried and

said if she develops any thing bring her to them IMMEDIATELY! He rheumy

said since she on such a low dose of steroids (1 mL daily) that she'll

be fine and she's had the immunization for chicken pox.

I had really liked her new doc until he just didn't seem to be as

cautious as I'd like! I guess we're just overprotective and have EVERY

right to be! I will continue to worry the crap out of her doc if

anything else happens too! :-)

Your post makes me laugh. We are very similar. I don't really

trust the rheumy's either. I think they just try to gloss over

everything. I am a detailed person. I want to know the good, bad

and the ugly. I have an entire file on MTX. Lots of research

studies etc.. Really, it only makes since to me that I am ultimately

the one responsible for what we put into our child.

JRA is a guessing game for the docs as much as anyone else. So I

research tons, trust this list and allow the doc to write out the

scripts for which I am willing to try. :-)

Truthfully, noone knows our children better than us. I don't think

anyone should blindly accept a diagnosis, medication, vaccination

etc. without fully educating yourself on the risk/benefit ratio.

Some would call us zealous, over-protected parents. I would just

say were educated.
