Guest guest
More good news!! Glad is doing well now, and the Enbrel has started to do its trick. Bloodwork every 4 months - that is nice too, instead of every month or so. One less thing to deal with. Hopefully, he won't need the mtx. Michele ( 17, pauci & spondy) s appointment Hi all, Everything went great today. The right wrist is as perfect as it can get and the left wrist just has a smidgen of swelling. Not enough to warrant going back on MTX.The increase in Enbrel has finaly started to kick in after 3 weeks and if it doesn't keep things in control he goes to oral MTX not the nasty, yellow shots.Labs are every 4 months and we go back Dec.22 It was nice to hear the words complete control again. is a very lucky little boy.It would have been so easy for things to just have spiraled out of control when we discontinued the MTX last month. Guest guest
Hi all, The appointment went well. is back in complete control but needs to exercise his lft wrist a little. To much time protecting it duiring floor play and useing his finger tips instead of letting his palm lay flat on the floor. Not alot of height growth but he did finaly manage to hit 4 ft and a 1/4 " to boot. His weight gain is whats incredible but he is very proportionate.First of Oct. he was 25 kilos and now he is 27.8 kilos so he has gained close to 6 lbs.The big thing is even with the increase of Enbrel from 1.0ml to 1.1ml he is still getting .5mg per kilo. Asked about the funky eczema rash, turns out its not that at all(Humell is also head allergist). is allergic to Nickel and I now have to cover all the snaps and rivets in his blue jeans. She is also an immunologist and as far as I could understand it's an immunological thing and the rash can appear anywhere, not just where the exposure is.I can get all the spots cleared up and any exposure to Nickel can cause the rash to appear anyplace on his body. She increased his steroid cream from .05 to .10 because some spots are yucky and stubborn. Stacia,I mentioned the fear of his skin thinning and she told me not to worry unless it was his face. All in all it was good and we are back to every 4 months again with labs every 2months. Helen, even though I had never heard of getting labs 24 hours after MTX to see if you were absorbing it, I haven't given any Folic acid. His liver enzymes after 7 weeks were in the normal high range and he is absorbing the 7.5mg oral.Recently Georgina posted a report from a third world country that couldn't get any injectable MTX and they used it to their favor and did a study on patients in remission.A dose of 7.5mg is the only dose that is absorbed the same as injections.WE now have a script for folic acid and start tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi Stacia, Actualy Dr.Lovell was the first to suspect contact dermititis because right at his snap was a HUGE rash.Dr.Hummel knew immediately what it was without skin testing and said she thought what was on his arm was related but there was no skin test for that type of rash.It looks differant then the others and is much more stubborn. I know about the jewelry thing.Mainly wears 14k CZ but has aquired some braclets and necklesess.I have noticed with most costume jewelry now a days is nickel free.As for me nothing but 14k goes in my ears or pain and redness occur.10k still has to much other stuff in it.So while we do get the good stuff it's pricey so atleast for me I don't have a large earing collection. s putting tape on his snap every morning and so far things are clearing up without steroid cream,so hopefuly we can try and avoid it as much as possible.
