I was just reading through some of the archives, and see that we are not the

only ones lucky enough to be under the care of Dr. Christy Sandborg and her

incredible colleagues in pediatric rheumatology at Stanford (LPCH). One of

the things I am thankful for daily is the top-level medical care we have

locally (SF Bay Area). In addition to the ped. rheum. staff at Stanford, Sammy

sees some great eye docs at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

Not only are her doctors at the top of their field medically, they are

wonderful, compassionate people. The day hospital nurses at LPCH, where we

used

to go for Sammy's monthly Remicade infusions told me that the pediatric

rheumatology team was the nicest group of people any of them had ever worked

with,

and I couldn't agree more.

Deb, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about

Stanford, etc., or want some recommendations for some great pediatric

opthalmologists. Reading your posts about your Sami reminded me of all the

emotions and

questions I went through when my Sammy (also short for ) was in the

process of being diagnosed.

Good night all!

Hey a fellow Dr. Sanborg patient. I love Dr. Sanborge she is an amazing

doctor! Where do you guys live? I live in Belmont which is about 30 minutes

north of Palo Alto and about 20 minutes south of San Francisco. I'm glad to see

some more LPCH patients on this board!!

Pretty interesting that we are traveling down the same paths with girls with the

same name. Today is Sami's second appointment. I can't wait to get there. So

many things have changed for the positive for Sami that I want to thank them and

then listen for the reality of the future or what ever they are going to tell

us. We get all of the test results today.

I think I forgot to mention we had REAL jumping on the couch yesterday! I mean

-- real -- feet leaving the ground at least a foot....after I celebrated inside,

I did the reminder -- " Only jump on the floor, please. The couch is for

sitting. " But my gawd, her little face was beaming with excitement as she

exclaimed, " Look Gramma, my jumping, my jumping! " And I was trying not to laugh

-- but inside I was throwing a party...confetti, balloons and clowns, oh my!

Maybe all of us bay area folks should plan a get together....
