Guest guest
Hi , Sorry to hear still has fluid in her ears.It can take a while for it to go away. The Naprosyn can be pretty hard on the stomache and while probably the most common prescribed NSAID I would not let my son take it.The doctor can add something like Zantac to help with any tummy issues. If the Nap doesn't seem to be helping in 2-3 weeks call the rheumy back. They can't help if they don't know there is still a problem. They can up the dose, change NSAIDS or start a DMARD.You just want to make sure you get rid of the inflimation as quick as possible. Sorry to hear the lab lady couldn't get it on the first try.Blood work is no fun to begin with let alone haveing to be stuck more then once. The flu shot is IM so it's common to have some soreness afterwards. It was a wise decision to go ahead and get it,try not to be scraed about it. Just keep all your appointments and labs and keep in contact with the rheumy and they will have better in no time. Guest guest
Your doctor should take the c reactive protein or CRP. It is a better indicator of inflammation than the sed rate. I would insist on it. Just my two cents worth. Guest guest
, Before you try tubes try Nazonex (sp?). My daughter had the same problem. Although we never had tubes. But whenever the ear situation arises we use that, and it seems to clear it up quite quickly without any problems. and Allie (8) poly Ray 651-340-4384 Direct line 952-835-2724 @... <mailto:@blueribbon travel.com> ________________________________ From: obmas7 [mailto:obmas7@...] Sent: Thursday, October 14, 2004 12:48 AM Subject: 'sappt Hi I took back to the rheumatologist the dr checked 's ears her left ear seems to be holding fliud in it,the dr says if the fliud is still in her ear on her next appt, she might need tubes in ear ,I told the dr had tubes in her ears when she was almost two,and when they were coming out she had bleeding from her right ear the dr back then said she wouldnt be able to have tubes again because of the bleeding. I mention about when she does the sed rate if she could check the crp test, she said that wasn't needed she only check the sed rate. The dr told us should have the flu shot so they gave her it the dr said lets not start her on naproxen until the sed rate comes back. The blood test was took for ever the lady couldn't do the first arm, was moaning then she did the other arm and it was over.went home and dr called right away and said 's sed rate went up to 23itwas19 she told me to start the naproxen half morning and half night. Im very worried cause when she took it before it made her stomach hurt and Im not sure if it helped this is less dose,so maybe it wont be as bad,her arms are very sore,I hope we did the right thing by letting her get the flu shot im scared,I got to go, thanks for giving good advice. Guest guest
-Yes, I cant believe a rhuematologist would NOT order a CRP.. I thougth it pretty standard along with the SED and a more acurate measurement of joint immflamation. The sed can be affected by many other things....I would insist.
