Guest guest
I know there is a little five year old boy on it that goes to the ped rheumy in Portland, Oregon. My brother is on it, and he has had a much better response on it than on enbrel. It hurts a lot at the time of injection though. He says that it really burns, and he hasn't found anything to alleviate that pain. Good luck . Guest guest
My daughter is on it and it seems to be working quite well. We have never been on Enbrel. To eliminate the pain, my daughter uses emla cream and then we ice her spot. The ice needs to be very cold and direct on the spot. We use a very thin cloth and ice it intensely...if that makes sense. She injects herself and then we count to ten. She is on a study, so she has to rate her shots every time...she is pretty tough too, but she typically says they are between a 2to4 on a scale of 10. I think it really does help. She injects her leg and not her stomach, maybe that would make a difference, and we use an " injector. " It actually pokes the needle in her skin (she controls all the buttons and the injections) and then she pushes the medicine into her body. It really has taken the arthritis moved it closer to normal, but we aren't there yet. Good Luck! We really like the fact is is only once every 2 weeks too. and Allie (8 poly) ________________________________ From: WILLIAM PRICE [mailto:bc.price@...] Sent: Thursday, November 11, 2004 2:30 PM Subject: Re: Systemic JRA--Humira--Need info I know there is a little five year old boy on it that goes to the ped rheumy in Portland, Oregon. Guest guest
Thanks for the info on Humira. Atleast I'll be able to tell about the pain when he asks, " Will it hurt? " I have always been honest with about procedures & pain. That way he knows I'll always tell him the truth. Sometimes his daddy is in denial and wants to spare him the pain/panic that comes with new meds. Thank you so much!!!
Guest guest
Please remember I think the first time it hurts the worst. I think my daughter started to feel so much better that she look forward to the shot...because she knew subconsciously she felt so much better. Take it slow. The more my daughter is in control the easier it is. and Allie (8 poly) ________________________________ From: colemantree@...
