Guest guest
: It sounds like your walk was certainly terrific! That is so awesome!!! Wow, $4000 is so incredible!! Rob's Raiders, our team, raised $2300, of which we were pretty proud too! Our walk was today. It was the very first walk in this area. It was pretty good. We had clear weather and though it was hot, there was a breeze. We had a pretty good turnout. I wish that instead of at a park, it would have been in a more populated area so we could have raised more awareness. I do think that people with adult onset arthritis who were there really had their awareness level raised about KIDS GET ARTHRITIS TOO, because FACES shirts were all over the place! Go Team FACES!! I do wish they would have announced how much money was raised, etc. There were no announcements about teams. I think they could have at least announced the team names or something. I was really disappointed. I do hope we get some sort of follow up communication about how much was raised and how many people actually participated. Maybe next year it will be more comprehensive!! I was proud to be a part of the day. Rob is mad at me because I talked about him in my speech, but oh well, he'll get over it. He walked one mile and then went tree-climbing with Donna's boys. He is not feeling too well at the moment. My 78 year old aunt made it the whole way. My 80 year old uncle did one mile! We had about 13 walkers in our group. It did our hearts good to have them come out to support Rob. It meant so much to us! , you are an inspiration to us all and I am so glad that you had such a fun day. Soak in a hot bath, take some Tylenol, and hope that you don't feel much worse than you do now. I am so glad that you wrote in today to let us know how awesome your experience was!! and Rob 15 Spondy On Sat, 22 May 2004 16:31:17 EDT bncknwurnumber@... writes: The San Francisco Arthritis Walk was awesome. Team Walking For raised $4,000 (Pretty good for our first year)! We we're the third highest raising team. The top two teams raised way more Walking For Lulu ($11,000) and s Jesters, a tribute to a woman who fought JRA and found her cure in heaven, I believe its the same friend of Donna and Rusty they raised like $13,000. They had a great tribute to and so many people on the team (had to be at least 50) all wearing jester hats. I got to read my JRA poem which was a little nerve wrecking. I hate public speaking. But everyone said I did really great and a lot of people like it. They want to put it on the Arthritis Foundation website. A bunch of people from the Stanford Clinic were there and they made these awesome shirts for all the kids from the Stanford Rheumi Clinic their team was called the " Pedirhoom Boom Boom Shakers " and they brought me one! That was very cool. There was face painting, a band, and balloon animals, some food and a decent amount of people. It was their 3rd Annual Walk. All in all it was a great day. And I walked the entire 5k. My legs and back are killing me now, I'm going to be hurting tonight.. but that's ok it was worth it. I don't know what the total amount for the entire walk was. But it was pretty awesome. Oh and I saw the girl Jenna who I met at JA Day and she is starting up a kids empowerment group and she wants to talk to me about being one of the leaders... So that was very cool too. (Poly JRA and Spondy, 19)
Guest guest
Hi , Wow! It was so great to hear about your local walk. Thanks for sharing all the details. You must be so proud of your accomplishments. And we're very proud of you, too! Your team did great, as did the others, and I'm so glad that you worked up the courage to read your JRA Poem in front of the crowd. Sounds like it was really nice to meet with Jenna again. I have a feeling you guys are going to do some marvelous things together, for the kids with JRA. Aloha, Georgina bncknwurnumber@... wrote: > The San Francisco Arthritis Walk was awesome. Guest guest
Hi , I just LOVE hearing about these local walks. Congratulations, on a job well done! I am so proud of you ... and the entire FACES group! Sounds like you have some good ideas about how the Walk can be even better next year. Please be sure you share them with the foundation, so next time around it can be even more successful. Poor Rob. You're right, though. He'll get over it. It's just a stage. Next time around, maybe he'll be the one making the speech. Aloha, Georgina snooksmama@... wrote: > : > It sounds like your walk was certainly terrific! Guest guest
Great job ! That is cool about being one of the leaders - you would be a great role model for the younger kids, I'm sure.
