Stacia-

Check www.uveitis.org for more information about treatment options for uveitis/iritis. DMARDs are supposed to be the second step for treatment of iritis if steroid drops aren't working. There's lots about that on the site. I have heard of Enbrel helping with it too. I think I recall someone on this list having achieved good results with it. Maybe they'll jump in.

Thanks for the info Diane!!

I will check out uveitis.org and bone up. Hunter is on 1ml of SQ

mtx. Are you implying a significant increase in mtx. to treat the

iritis? Define a relative increase in mtx. to treat iritis for me

if you can. The 1ml is the max. dose for his size.

Thanks again. I love this place.

Stacia-

I don't know the specifics on dosage. was on 12.5 mg of oral mtx (she's never done injectible), which was prescribed for her arthritis, not her iritis, and that worked for both. (And I'm speculating about the impact on the iritis because she was also on pred-forte drops, but it's what I believe). I just read, and someone from the iritis board also told me, that the dosage required to be effective specifically for iritis might be more than for arthritis. You'd have to check with Hunter's doctor about that. Maybe you'll find something about this issue at that website.
