Hi Terri,

A Sed of 29 is not real high but 0-15 is normal. The Sed is a quirky little test that can be influanced my several things. It measures the amount of inflimation in the body but any type of infection, allergies and even insect bites can elevate it.What matters most is how your child feels and the overall results of all the lab work.

Re: bloodwork results - sed rate 1

Hi Stacia, That is such great news. This may sound silly but I remember when s SED went to just a 1.The next one came back a 8 and I felt realy dissapointed even though he felt great and his SED was normal. It's just if you hit a 1 there is nowhere else to go but up.I hope it continues.Hooray!!!! Terri -

I am not sure what is considered " high " I think our pediatrician said the normal

sed rate is 0-15. Caroline's was at 44 when first diagnosed, but had gone up to

the 70's last time. Her labs are being run again in 2 weeks so hopefully will be

lower.

Terri,

I have conflicting reports on a couple things. I have been told by

other doctors that the " normal " range for many blood tests is " lab

specific " , for instance, our lab here, under 10 is a normal sed

rate. At the lab we used when living in FL, they told me under 20

was normal. I'm not 100% sure if it is true, but I know a little

about labwork and it makes a little sense to me. So, in your case,

ask your rheumy or someone at the lab what their " normal' range is,

then report back to us.
