Guest guest
Good evening. We just spend the better part of the day at the opthamologist. I brought Caroline in because I thought her eyes were a little strage. They have been red on and off for a week and now they started getting that goopy matter like conjunctivitis. Being the paranoid mother I am I took her into the doctor today. We switched doctor's to one a little closer to us, but he is the associate of our first doctor. Anyways... After examing Caroline her said that he noticed inflammation but wanted to consult with our previous doctor. So he did a telephone conference and came back to us with the news that she has active inflamtion aka Uveitis in both eye. She also has a little pink eye. Ugh! So we are starting on Tobramycin and Predisone3 times a day in each eye! I am soo sad. I had to practically sit on top of Caroline to get the drops in tonight. Of course Alan teaches tonight, so I got stuck doing the first round by myself! To make matters worse I have noticed her ankles are starting to swell and she has been complainging about her knee for the past three days!! We go to the rhuemmy on Monday. I really am hoping for some answers... Alia and Caroline, age 2, pauci and uveitis www.caringbridge.org/mn/caroline

Guest guest
Alia, IM so glad you took her in... from what you were describing I would have said pink eye too. it just goes to show you we cant be too careful with things what we are not sure about. Its alwasy best to get it checked out and be wrong, than to leave something and have it get that much worse. I hope the meds help her eyes calm down quickly and i hope you get some answers at the rhuemys on monday. Hugs Helen, mom to (6,systemic) I checked out Carolines webpage.. she is sooo darn cute )), loved the photo on the home page. Can i put a link from Nicks page to Carolines??? I was reading your guestbook and saw Caroline has an Aunt Debbie in Cottage Grove... well, its such a small world, so does Nick!!! We are not related are we????? Guest guest
Sorry to hear about Caroline's eyes. Good thing you had that checked right away. Good luck with the drops - it is hard when they are so young. Could you maybe get her to lay down and close her eyes and put a drop in the inner corner of each closed eye? Have her open her eyes while laying down and drop will roll right in. I was able to do it this way for when he was young. Just a suggestion. Michele (16, pauci & spondy) Double Uveitis Good evening. Guest guest
Thanks Helen! I am soo glad too!! I am releived to be able to start treating her eyes. It is soo true. I think we just have to trust our gut! Thanks. We think she's adorable too.. LOL. Yes!!! Please do. That would be awesome. The more people that know about these kids the better. I'm not sure. That would be VERY weird if we were related!!! Have you checked out the JAM walk on March 8th. Guest guest
Alia.. Too funny you ask about the JAM event... because i was just about to post and ask YOU if you heard about it ))) Nick is going to walk in it, i think. IM busy trying to see who will pleage for him. I've already got some great response. I called the local arthritis office to get more info on it, they are mailing it out to me. We are so new at this, im not sure how it all works. It would be great if you were going, perhaps we can met up. Our aunt Debbie, lives on Emmanuel... Im sure we are not related, it was just too strange to see a reply from Aunt Debbie, in Cottage grove, because i thought i was reading your website and not Nicks!! let me know if you will be at the JAM ) Hugs helen, mom to (6,systemic) Hugs..Helen DH Dan DS's (20)(14)(12)Zachary(9)(6) DD (4)>From: "Alia Wegener-Pranke" >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Double Uveitis >Date: Fri, 20 Feb 2004 20:04:14 -0000 > >Thanks Helen! Guest guest
Helen - That is funny. Caroline and I are definitely going to walk. I met another person on the arthritis board that has a daughter about Nick's age. She lives near me and is going to walk too. I thought it would be nice if we could all meet.
