The Arthritis Foundation:2003 AJAO Regional Conference"Taming Juvenile Arthritis"The Arthritis Foundation is proud to host the 2003 American Juvenile Arthritis Organization (AJAO) Regional Conference, "Taming Juvenile Arthritis." The American Juvenile Arthritis Organization leads the effort to improve the quality of life for those affected by childhood arthritis and related diseases. This 3-day conference is geared towards children, teens, young adults and family members who are affected by juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and other childhood rheumatic diseases. This is a great opportunity for arthritis education, awareness and fun! It gives people a chance to educate themselves and meet other families who are going through the same challenges.It will be taking place at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Spa and Resort in Phoenix, Arizona on June 27th through June 29th of 2003. This unique resort offers endless activities including the Adjii Spa, The Koli Equestrian Center, the two Whirlwind Golf Club Courses, and the spectacular riverside swimming pool with waterslide. It is nestled between the Sierra Estrella and South Mountains with spectacular views of the expansive valley and the vibrancy of wild horses running free. You don't even need to leave the resort to truly experience the beauty and fun that Arizona has to offer! s, M.D., Chair of the 2003 AJAO Regional Conference, is proud to be leading a conference that offers many new and innovative educational programs, children's activities, and special evening events. It will feature keynote speakers, Board certified rheumatologist, Dr. S. Louie, and Jana Striegel, author of children's book Homeroom Exercise. For over 20 years, Dr. Louie has been lecturing across the United States about the historical experiences of major artists-- such as s, Klee and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec-- who continued to live and work with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Jana Striegel's book is based on a 12-year old gifted dancer who aspires to be a professional ballerina. Unfortunately, she starts experiencing signs of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Jana Striegel will discuss her challenges with the disease and how she overcomes adversity. The Conference will also include: educational programs on the different types of juvenile ar!thritis, Tai Chi and yoga for children and adults, panel discussions with board certified pediatric rheumatologists and educational programs in Spanish. The evening events will have food and entertainment that encompass the three cultures that have shaped and influenced Arizona -- Mexican, Western and Native American.Please join us for arthritis education, awareness and fun at a spectacular place!
