was upset about my liver enzymes being high again and ketosis. She wants me to

have an ultrasound of my liver. I've done some reading at the site you

recommend about ketosis, and I'm preparing some information to give her from

this site to give her a different viewpoint. I'm tempted to do the ultrasound

to help her feel better.

+++Hi Leesa. Ultrasound is radiation so it isn't a good idea to get it done

just to satisfy a doctor. Here's a great article about ketosis:

http://www.biblelife.org/ketosis.htm

It is my understanding that ketosis can be expected on this diet. Last week, my

husband told me that I'd had an odor since I started this diet, and the dr told

me yesteday she could smell it. Will that last forever-I think I read the

ketosis would stop after a few weeks. Is that incorrect?

+++Yes that is correct. You liver enzymes will also be higher while your body

is detoxifying.

+++Question: Does your liver hurt?

This time she has lowered it back down to 60mg/day. I've been taking Armour

since 1998. Should I just go off it completely now or continue to monitor with

blood tests? Also, do you think I would benefit from a consultation with you?

+++Your doctor needs to monitor it.

+++Everyone benefits from a consultation with me! lol!

All the best, Bee

Hi Leeza,

Bee's diet is a ketogenic diet. Ketosis refers to the body running on fat for

fuel, so yes, those of us following a high fat, low carb diet will be in

ketosis. This will also mean that you will have ketone bodies in your urine.

It is perfectly safe and natural and in fact, some organs prefer to run on fat

than glucose for fuel. As long as you are eating a low amount of carbs and a

relatively high amount of fat, you will be in ketosis, although, ketone bodies

in your urine might not show up in your urine after being on this type of diet

for some time.

Bee would have to answer your question about your thyroid medication. I think

it is a great idea to have a consultation with Bee!

All the best,

Hi Leesa,

Many folks in the group report having increased body odor for awhile. Much of

that is because as you are eating all these wonderful healing foods and doing

what you can to detoxify, your body is releasing toxins through the skin. And

that can cause odors. Did you know the skin is actually the largest organ of the

body? The odors won't last forever but it can last for awhile depending on how

much detoxing your body needs to do. All of the recommendations for helping you

detox (dry skin brushing, epsom salt baths, etc.) will eventually help you

become your sweet smelling self once again.

>> No, my liver does not hurt.

+++Hi Leesa. If your liver doesn't hurt, you shouldn't be concerned about the

diagnosis by your doctor.

I had severe liver pain when I had candida, and my doctor, who was a holistic

MD, wasn't concerned and didn't treat it; I just did the program.
