Can someone explain to me about auras?

My daughter a, is for the most part, non-verbal... how would

I know if she was having them?

I can tell when Bri is about to have a seizure, cuz of her aura. She doesn't

tell me, but she will get this look on her face . then grab her stomach.

She's 8

Sophie,

Whenever my daughter had an aura she could tell me but I'm not sure what was

happening as she's developmentally delayed and cannot explain what she's either

feeling or seeing. Whenever she had those, they would last anywhere from 15 to

25 seconds and it was over but for some people an aura is a warning that a

generalized seizure is coming and this gives them time to go to a safe place.

them? Are they a precurser to a seizure? Do they effect your vision?

etc.

Thanks,

When my son was going to begin seizing he would get

these stomach aches and his heart would race, he would

lay down where ever he was and this happened before

every seizure he ever had. He has been seizure free

for 133 days(19 weeks). His seizures had become every

14-21 days but since being on supplements he hasn't

appeared to have any during the night or day. My

son's seizures became more regular when he was put on

seizure meds. He would have clusters of seizures on

the meds but he would go into status epileptus before

we started meds.

Thank you all for the feedback on auras.

, some of what you discribed with your own aura experiences

sounds like what happens with my daughter a (special

needs...CP/developmentally delayed/autisic tendencies).

There are times when she'll stop in her tracks and do this lip

smacking sound and wierd deep breathing for a few seconds then it

seems to pass and she continues on. To me it seems like she's

griped by some kind of pain but perhaps it's just because she can't

see well so she stops until it goes away.

The toughest part is not knowing...I only wish she could articulate

better so we could have an idea of what she is experiencing...the

guess work is grueling. I know I'm not alone here.

a had another seizure on Wednesday. She had been

saying " headache " for a few days before that. Headache is a fairly

new word in her limited vocabulary but I do think that she is having

them so I'm glad she can tell us. However, I haven't been giving

her any pain medication...I'm a bit worried the Tylenol or Advil

will cause further problems?? This is also the week before her

period when she's at her worst.
