Dear Dr Steiner

Thanks so much for this reply about my concerns of EBV virus during the

fourth month of pregnancy in my autistic son. As you may or may not know, I

also have another child with autism, though expressed in a higher

functioning category, with no metabolic (known) problems or seizures. I

will try to look up the abstracts you sent me if at all possible. Here is

my theory about my . I believe that this infection was a rather

paramount infection in his etiology. Is it any wonder why I question now

why he seems to have an " energy metabolism " problem, when you get MONO this

is the first thing it drains-energy? But to be more sysinct, I believe also

that a number of things led him to autism of which I will also adress, but

primarily, you may be interested in this little tidbit. On the CAN

In one paragraph as you will read there is this reference : " <Money, et al,

originally investigated the relationship of autism and autoimmune disorder

in an individual family " . ( They hypothosized that antibodies to various CNS

proteins could be responsible for autism. Your own Gene Stubbs at OHSU also

hypothosized that a relative t cell deficiency is present.). Also to note,

becuase I know Kathy Henley who is a research assistant, I investigated the

C4b anulle problem that my family has, bingo, has NO complement on HLA

typing for C4b (I also tested my daughter, also BINGO). You may retrieve

his records to that account. Anyways, pop down a little further to read

" some viruses such as measels, flu and epstein barr have been shown to have

proteins homologous to portions of MBP. These interfere with MYELINATION in

the brain. Transport to another idea, in which I have done the myeline

antibody test, BINGO, antibodies to myelin. Am I hearing per these abstacts

that Mono is in the HHV6 category? If that is the case, what are the

therapies for HHV6?

This is not to say that it is the totality of 's problems, to say the

least, an illustration in point, is that this child had hardly a chance for

normalcy is an understatement. 11 days after a routine DPT, he went into

febrile convulsions, high pitch screaming, high fever and a

semi-encephalitic response to his vaccine although no clear evidence of

damage per an MRI (thankfully). This coupled with the fact that his immune

system could not lyse proteins, or foreign ones to be more sysinct, such as

toxins, metals, fungals and virals, sets up a nice, not so nice picture of

gut related problems, myelin problems, metabolic problems and of course

seizures, muscle wasting. Indeed, a heavy metal test reveals also a huge

load of mercury in his body. You can probably gather that I would like to

blame just the vaccination in his etiology, but of course with this set up

in vitro, one must take pause. HOWEVER, (and my daughter) were

presenting as a normal child before the vaccination, although, I did notice

that eating behavior and growth charts were concerning (had anorexic

behaviors as well as 10th percentile on height and weight). I believe that

is becuase one vaccination proceeded those behaviors, and the last one DPT

that injured him, was the straw that broke the camels back. Not to mention

that my son recieved a bad lot pertussis in the early eighties. One must

also take thought that what was different in my daughter with autism? Well,

not much. For in my 4th month of pregancy, again, I came down with a hefty

strept throat infection that put me to bed for at least 1 week, with high

temperatures. To note, I have two other children perfectly normal, and as

I also have investigated privately through Dr Berger at U of UTah, no C4

anulle in them, therefore, they handled pretty well all of their vaccines.

Although test revealed no pyruvate complex problem but BEFORE was a problem,

I still think that has some kind of blockage in his Kreb Cycle.

Evidence of that has led me to think of several ideas that may be put across

to you in a medical appointment if at all possible. One idea is that also,

I think may have a purine metabolism problem. The manifistation is

quite literally interesting to say the least. A good friend sent me the

following abstract " The syndrome included dd, seizures, ataxia, recurrent

infections, language deficit and poor social interaction. I believe this

must be looked at, as far as URIDINE therapy? If I am totally off base, I

am wondering why not? also has self injurous behavior and dystonic

posturing (look at his video once again).

Also, I have been looking into whether or not is CARNATINE deficient?

A good friend at SIGMA TAU Pharmaceuticals recommended I talk to a doctor

there at OHSU, but when I called, they said he was semi retired. At the

moment I can't remember his name, but you may call her to that fact at

800-447-0169, her name is a Lambert Deeds. Email is

info@.... As I read the booklets about mito and metabolic

disorders, things also started clicking in my mind. One of them was the

abrupt onset of seizures between 1-8 years old, bingo once again, especially

worse at night. also has a fair amount of muscle wasting (look again

at the video) and odd posturing. He has in the past had lactic acid and

pyruvate acid problems, but I guess the one test that was performed at OHSU

came out negative, in which I contribute to the fact I was giving him a

mitochondrial antioxidant cocktail consisting of CoQ10, B1, C, A, K and E?

At times can have a peculiar smell, but I don't think Maple syrup

diseased was looked at since that also came out normal (but I would beg to

differ, perhaps a PST deficiency problem, bad sulfation pathways). He also

has a short stature and when we do any blood CBC he either has low sugar or

has high high alkaline phophatase indicating a liver detox pathway problem

as well as strawberring tongue? He also hyperventalates when pushed to

hurry or to get dressed or do some fair amount of walking or strutting fast.

Some kind of excercise intolerance? I will be also looking into an idea

about fatty acids and also amino acid problems, previously, through Carbon

Based Corporation, we did have innumerable fatty acid problems which could

be manipulated somewhat by diet. I also believe that MONOLAURIN has helped

my son, in the fact that it seems to detect foreign enveloping viruses (many

HIV people use this).

It is also interesting to note that I seem to also have CFS and some kind of

thrombaphilia clotting disorder. (ask my mom, she said I was tired as an old

woman when growing up, slept for hours etc) This also has of late some

interest in the autism community. Recently an abstract by Authors JJ

Bradstreet, JJ Katrzinel, D Berg and J El Dahr noted growing evidence of

dysregulation of the immune system (bingo , that's my kids, even my husband

and I who also have a nulle allele on c4b). He speculates that various

vaccines, viruses, pathogens and immune deficiencies, toxins and

autoantibodies have been put forward as playing a role in the development of

autism and that additionally a familial or genetic tendency in immune system

response. There is basically a previously unreported observation that there

is a high occurance of familial thrombaphilia which basically pronounces a

fate on those with it in regards to the multitudes of immune activation

agents placed usually upon them as stated above. Coagulation does indeed

seem to be a problem in our family as well, not to mention odd platelet

sizes. Now to really reach farther out in the circle of problems as far as

what did my kids in was the fact that I grew up next to an orchard all my

life, in which malathion was sprayed routinely, and interestingly, I also

believe connected to these pregnancies, when the silicon valley was

helicopter sprayed with it. I would go out to my car to work and literally

had to clean off the yellow dust from my car! At a later time, I

investigated that not only is the pesticide dangerous to the developing

baby, but that mercury is present in malathion in the form of a mercury

salt.

Recently Dr Shaw from Great Plains Laboratory hypothosizes " could this be

the reason of pandemic proportions of autism in the silicon valley and

various other growing communities in California, ie 273% increase in 10

years " . Of course attatched to that is the multiple unstudied effects of

vaccinations in combinations that also may play a role?

So you can see, I can go there, and try to pinpoint one agent, but to tell

you the truth, becuase and presented so normally UNTIL the

vaccination, it is my heartfelt belief that this was the TRIGGER to set off

an immune system response in them. after a MMR regressed into her own

little world within a month of her vaccine, losing words, one by one,

coupled with eye contact and my child was align to the same fate. She has

also muscle atrophy, but is rather large for her age?

Could you also do me a favor and send this off to Dr Brewster , who is

my CURRENT neurologist since is an adult now. His phone number is

it? Currently is having some problems with seizures, but we are

working on the right meds/supplements for him. It is also my heartfelt

belief that if I do not address the bottom line with my son, he will get

progressively worsen and that further damage will happen. I have been lucky

in the last few months to completey cessate all seizures, although there

have been times of semi going into a seizure, but was stopped. I attribute

that to the fact that I reduced his dosage of all pharmaceuticals (don't

tell good ole , he doesn't like to hear that , and supplemented him

with lots of B-6 and taurine and GABA as well as other adjuncts, (a list

inumerable). I also feel that until I address the heavy metal toxicty, I

shall never get to the point where can be set on a path of healing.

Coupled with that, there is no known SAFE and EFFECTIVE form of removal,

although a DAN protocol just now authored suggests DMSA with ALA or some

others suggest DMPS. I believe this has a direct corrolation on energy

pathways in ryan, since they are damaged via mercury or other metals, as

well as seizures, muscle wasting, etc etc. I can forward you a very curious

statement just out that autism could be the consequence of mercury

poisining. I will be going to Dr Klinghart up in Seattle Washington to

address these facts on Feb 1.
