Guest guest Posted September 30, 1999 Report Posted September 30, 1999 Dan, Did you not eat properly today....? (evil laugh). I like reading what other people think. I think both surveys are actually enlightening and a nice change of pace. Of course, we could go back to Springer...or the evil websites.... Quote

Guest guest Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 I am sorry to inform you, but you CAN live without bread and cheese. Age and weight please & I'll post a diet for you too. <http://foodforyourbloodn.goemerchant7.com/> http://foodforyourbloodn.goemerchant7.com - to purchase your supplements. Love Information overload Okay, information overload. Can somebody tell me what to eat if I am just going to eat the same darn thing everyday so that I can stay on this diet. I dont think I can live without bread and cheese. I thought spelt was okay but apparantly it is not for me because it has either gluten or wheat afterall. I dont like rice flour bread. What is farmer's cheese? I have definitely felt the benefits when I have been able to stay on the diet for a few days but am finding it so hard to pick and choose food. I just want to eat the same thing everyday for awhile and stabalize and then branch out. Can anybody help? I am a carb addict. I have been eating alot of rice and rice crackers lately and I am sure too much of them... Quote

Dear , Please cancel the RAI scan, there is no need for it. There are other, better tests that give the same information. I am not sure what they are, but others on this list know, so I hope they reply. Meanwhile, please DO NOT DO ANYTHING INVOLVING RADIATION, and go to our sister site, iThyroid.com for info. I had Graves disease in 1998, went on meds, and then used acupuncture, supplements and nutrition to heal. Within a few months I was off all meds, and have been fine since. Thankfully, I did not listen to my endo, who suggested RAI. Had I done that, I would have permanently destroyed my thyroid, and would have to be on synthroid for the rest of my life. Please keep in touch, listen to your body, and DON'T JUMP INTO ANYTHING. Do your research before making any decisions. Write me whenever you want, I can help, I've been through it. Take care, AntJoan Quote
Guest guest Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 Information overload. Right....I have definitely been there! Ok I'll try to keep it simple. I found out in Nov. 05 that I am hyperthyroid. This was not a sudden onset for me. Still do not have full diagnoses on cause of hyperthyroid for me. I do have an appt this week so hopfully I'll learn more. I am currently treating with supplements and feel better than I did a couple of months ago. We'll see how thats working on my levels this week also. The RAI-scan should be ok. In that test they give you a small dose of radioactive iodine so your thyroid will " light up " when they do the scan. They can tell alot about what lights up and and to what degree. This will tell them how much iodine your thryoid is soaking up, presence of nodules, goiters, etc. From my understanding they do not administer enough " RAI " to do any permenant damage to your thyroid. I have not had this done. My dr used a sonogram. I know there is alot of info out there. I have been to so many websites I can't remember now where all I've been! In about week three or four I started a log of all the websites I thought were informative. I also put a note by each one so I could remember what it was about. That way I could go back to it if I wanted to. That might help you. The ones I refer back to the most are ithyroid.com, about.com, and suite101.com. Also, I have learned alot from internet thyroid support groups like this one. There are alot of people out there that want to help others by sharing thier experience and knowledge. My favorites are: Mediboard.com - they have a graves and thyroid discussion board. Elaine is a moderator on this site (She wrote a book about Graves Diesease). K9mom is also very knowledgeable and also a moderator there and posts quite frequently. Most everyone on this site is hyperT. And this board is very active with lots of new posts and quicker replies than some of the other boards. Healthboards.com - they have a thyroid disorders board. Most everyone here is now hypoT, still a few hyperT though. This board has alot of restrictions but the people are very knowledgeable. And this board is very active with lots of new posts and quicker replies than some of the others. There are also several in the . Hyperthyroidism, Gravessupport, Graves_Support, ThyroidSupportGroups-USA, and they have thyroid groups for each state in the US too. I hope this was helpful. If you have any more questions don't be afraid to post them here or in another thyroid support site. Remember nothing with the thyroid happens fast. So don't let your dr or your emotions rush you into any permenant decisions until your levels are under control. You will have a clearer head once those levels come down some. Best of luck on your journey....NOW.....BREEEEEAAAAAAATHHHHHHHH! Kim M. Quote
Guest guest Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 As far as the RAI scan. Listen to AuntJoan. She has been around longer. I have heard they can get the same info with a sonogram. Others said this when I had the sono and I wanted to know if I needed the scan. Some people say the RAI scan is not dangerous. But I would still listen to AuntJoan. No radiation is better if you can get away with it. Kim M. Quote
