Guest guest
Re: Catch 22. 30 years ago there was a physician who could have made a difference regarding medical coverage but when approached by a government official, the physician did not stand up for the patients needs. An IMPORTANT CONCEPT RE: IHMA. IS to be noted: IHMA was formed to promote legislation to get HBOT recognized in the medical community and to promote standards of care in the use of HBOT. and with the recognition would come coverage by Medicaid, Medicare, and insurance companies. It would appear that IHMA did not receive funds for Lief, there fore they do not have any money to send for the cause of Lief. In this Catch 22 issue, there are several issues, please everyone keep a clear head. Issue # 1. The custody issues of Lief, Issue # 2 HBOT treatment for Lief. Issue # 3 The Purpose of IHMA Issue # 4 Politics of HBOT treatment and acceptance in the medical community HBOT treatment and funding remains evolving and remain separate from the custody issues of Lief. We all want the best for each and everyone and somehow things will continue to work out. Please be advised that the Florida Department of Children and Family Services, Director for Developmental Disabilities believes that HBOT is off label and will not give approval for coverage. I know because, I have it in writing from her. Virginia

We are killing our babies, our teens, our adult loved ones! We are winning the battle for Medicaid and the traditional medical profession out there that wants to slice and dice or stash away our hearts, and continue to call Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy " ALTERNATIVE " . To be honest, I sit here in surprise when I hear that the HBOT community is being blamed by a major hyperbaric organization for not having the help that she needs to have Lief in her arms and going for regular HBOT sessions. Shenika This is a battle that is long overdue of being won. I can only tell you the problem is there are so many that want to be the hero here. I worked beside some of the best Hero's there are. But the problem was they wern't able to get pat thereselves and let the past alone. One person who I still care a lot for was able to open many doors. However was not able to look past the wrong others had done to get this field where it needed to be. Another great man that was just swarmed and had no support was Ken Locklier. His intentions with this field and still is to see it grow. There are many out there. Hero's true Hero's. But there are so many that want to be the only or first hero that we will never succeed in this field. That is why I work with everyone I can but also alone. I have held no grudges against no one. Allthough it may seem at times IM angry at this one or that one. I still love that person and will do what ever I can for them. Just because I may have a fallen out with someone from time to time does not mean Im against that person. Many times me and Hartsoe have agreed to disagree. But i have high respect for him In many areas that he is working and doing. If you will take a look at the list over the years you will see people one after another when the time came for them to try and help the field they were shot down trashed or allmost destroyed. I know I was one of them I was also one of the ones that done some of the trashing. But I have overcame that in many areas. To this day if someone from this field need's help no matter what our differences is I would be on board in a minute to help fight that fight. I just started following the Leif case. I had not paid a lot of attention to it till tonight. I have been swarmed with emails and so forth. IM leaveing to go out of town Friday for the weekend I have a event to attend but when i return I will contact Anita to see how I can help. If you can find a way to unite this field I wish you all the luck. Lord no's many have tried. I worked side by side with a few over the last year or so and thought that one day it could happen but it never did. the hatred just grew more and more. The purpose of the IHMA. Yes you are so correct there. However there mission is what it is and still they are trying everything they can to help the leifs as far as i have read so far tonight. I would say there going beyond the call of duty. You people all no on this listserv that this is a big step for the IHMA. They are trying to go beyond there mission statement here and help a family and child let's help them Anita I will call you tommorow. Guest guest
Darin: This is in fact in the IHMA's Foundation's mission statement, and the Patient's Legal Defense and Assistance Fund was voted into the existence last May by the IHMA Foundation's Board and all of the members present at the Board meeting. The work compiling the insurance reimbursement information packages so patients can send this in for government and private insurance is part of this same section of the business plan.
