My daughter is currently receiving treatment at an HBOT center. We are starting

to see small changes and would like to do another round of 20-40 treatments in

October. If possible, we'd like to get Medicaid to approve payment for these. I

know e Creacy was able to get approval for treatment for her husband, Bill.

We are also in the state of Texas but I have no idea where to begin. Can someone

help me? Also, I am going to submit this current round of treatments to

insurance for reimbursement. Can someone recommend what I need to send them? I'm

not holding my breath but I'd like the best possible chance of getting

reimbursed as to help families get this covered in the future.

Is Cassandra already a Medicaid recipient in Texas?

Do you have objective documentation of Cassandra's amelioration (improvements)

from hyperbaric oxygen, i.e., therapists's reports, doctor's reports,

before/after SPECT-scans, etc.

Because HBOT is not yet the standard of care for pediatric brain-injury, it's

critical that you have objective evidence to substantiate Cassandra's

improvements. A good way to do this is to have an evaluation by your MD and

therapists once you return--but don't tell them about Cassandra's HBOT until

*after* they've written their reports and put those reports in your hands.

If Cassandra's not on Texas Medicaid yet, there's a Super Dad on this list who

can help you get her on Medicaid almost immediately.

It's best for all members if these sort of discussions can take place on the

list--so others can learn how to access HBOT reimbursement. Plus, there are many

list members who have successfully obtained HBOT reimbursement from their

insurance companies and they could quit possibly help and Cassandra.

Yes, she is a Medicaid recipient. All of her therapists already know about

the HBOT and are very interested to see the results. Both OT and PT did

thorough evaluations on Cassandra prior to her starting HBOT and they plan

on doing the same after her HBOT.
