The IHMA Foundation is pleased to announce that 2 and part of a 3rd of the

22 evidence-based medicine studies outlined in the IHMA Foundation business

plan have now been funded and are moving forward. These are: Autism

(TD-DMPS & Hyperbaric Oxygen); Chronic traumatic brain injury; and Cerebral

Palsy. The first two are fully funded, and we are using all proceeds from

the sale of the TEXTBOOK OF HYPERBARIC MEDICINE 4TH EDITION to fund the

third study, as well as all IHMA Foundation donations not otherwise

designated. Each of these studies cost $5,000 each to organize and set up

on the Internet so that every qualified clinic and every patient who meets

the treatment criteria can participate.

Why are the cp kids always last? Even among those who say they want to help,

they're still last.

Louise,

CP kids are not last with everyone. But it does seem that

way sometimes doesn't it. Actually, CP adults seem to be at

the bottom of the list. Unfortunately, when it comes to

studies with any type therapy considered experimental, we

have to wait for the opportunity and stick our foot in the

door when we get a slight opening. Politics are involved

and lots of lobbying is required. Hopefully with

organizations like the AAHA and the IHMA, etc. working

towards the same goals, maybe we can finally get something

done.

The important thing is to work together towards the same

goals. This does not always happen and we have to remind

ourselves of the end result we are seeking. If we can show

results for autism, they will have to then consider CP, etc.

It is a frustrating experience, to say the least.

There will be a day when Brain injury is brain injury and

they can no longer deny how well hbot works, regardless of

the tag they put on the individual.

Adults with CP are not even on the list, never mind the bottom. We have very

few medical doctors who are willing to treat us as adults, never mind anything

else. Once we hit the grand old age of 23, the insurance companies dump us

and " it's hasta la vista, go have a nice life, been nice knowing you, nothing

else out there, we've done everything we can for you. bye, now " situation.

We just started the CP Group specifically for adults with CP. We have no

national organization or group that is geared specifically for and only for

adults

with CP unlike other special needs groups like MS, Muscular Dystrophy, Downs,

and etc. The website is www.thecpgroup.org We had the first conference a few

months ago in Rockville, MD and we are now trying to do something about this

mess. We are the first full generation of adults with CP and have nowhere else

to go.
