Guest guest Posted October 3, 2001 Report Share Posted October 3, 2001 Hi,my name is Becki and this is my first time to post.My son was diagnosed with systemic JRA on June22,2001.It only took 19 days to diagnose,but it was the scariest 19 days of my life.It started with a bike accident.He fell over on his left ankle,he started complaining that night and the next morning it was swollen and he had a rash on his left thigh.Dr.said he had a sprain and a contact rash from the wet grass.This was on a monday on sunday we were at the hospital having his right wrist x rayed,by now the rash was everywhere and I think he has been getting fevers for the last 2 nights.Dr. is stumped.sunday night take his temp 104.5,go back mon-sounds like serum sickness,but could be jra or rheumatic fever-start motrin.Fevers coming more regular,his ankles,wrists knees,elbows-oh heck-EVERY joint hurts and is swollen.He cant walk,he cant hold a cup or fork,losing weight fast,he cant get off the couch and when he could looked like he was severely retarded,my hubby says he looked like popeye.After several more dr. visits and several labs we finally get an appoint.with rheumy,but not untill july12 a whole month away.meanwhile is getting worse.1week goes by we are terrified he is dying.take him to another Dr. cant move and his rash has made it to his face.He looks like he has been horse whiped and attacked by wasps Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
