Now that I'm on higher doses of Imuran/Azathioprine, I'm losing hair, pretty rapidly

My hair survived chemo and is falling out now, also from the prednisone and Imuran. But count your blessings--at my age it seems to be growing back on my upper lip instead of my head!

Hi ,

My son is 11 and his hair has just recently started coming out..as

well as lots of buring/itching on his scalp. He has been on 6MP

(almost like Imuran but not quite..he was allergic to the Imuran) and

was on Prednisone for 17 months and has been off of it since late in

Feburary of this past year....his Dr's first thought to check his

Thyroid glands ( its my understanding that the thyroid gland can

contribute to hair loss if it is not working correctly)....and they

came back ok....so they said.....basically the same thing...it will

stop when its ready...unless its falling out in clumps....i dont need

to worry....and that it also happens to people *without*

diseases....it can be just a natural thing for some people.

LOL Elaine... When Zach started growing *darker hair* on his upper

lip from the prednisone at age TEN...he thought he was pretty cool!

lol... I would walk by him and catch him looking in the mirror kind

of *patting* his upper lip with his finger brushing in a downward

motion......LOL

My daughter at age 12 diagnosed with AIH was having hair loss. I studied

what might be the causes and found out that she was lacking some of the

important minerals. So she was supplemented with liquid Silica which can be

purchased from any health food store. Her hair loss improved.

I was also told that B12 or B12 shots can help this as well.
