Guest guest
Dear Kathy, Sometimes dropping down on the Prednisone to fast can cause all the symptoms you stated that you are experiencing. Call your Dr. and explain the symptoms and he may have you go back up on the Prednisone and then gradually drop 1 to 2 1/2 mg at a time. I know I exprienced the dizziness and nausea when first dropping down on the Prednisone and once my doctor had me increased the Prednisone the symptoms stopped. My Dr. then had me gradually drop 1 mg to 2 1/2 mg every month. I was like you, new to this Liver Support Group, and mentioned my symptoms and Jerry (WHERE ARE YOU JERRY????) suggested I call my Dr. and that is when I learned my body could not tolerate the 5mg drop of Prednisone at one time. I did much better on the 1mg drop and then the 21/2 mg drop. I am still on 5mg and my Dr. said I may have to stay on the 5mg along with the Imuran. Good luck!! Do not be afraid to ask question as there are many very knowledgeable people in the group that can really help. I know they answered all my questions when I first joined. Many of them gave me much more information than I ever received from my Doctors. Shirlee (Wa State) [ ] is this unusual Has this happened to anyone else? I have been treatedfor AIH since Christmas, 2003. I am currently beingweaned off pred. I started at 40mg a day for a monthand then started 100mg of imuran. Each week I amgoing down by 5mg until I reach 5mg a day along withthe Imuran. I started to feel absolutely great abouttwo weeks after starting the pred. but today, I feltlike I have been sideswiped by a train. Extremefatigue, dizziness and a feeling of passing out. ________________________________
Guest guest
Hi shirlee, thanks for the info. Am seeing my doc. on Thurs. and I will mention this to her. The problelm is I have two specialists that I am seeing, One is a gastroenterologist and the other is a hepatologist and they never seem to know what each other is doing!!! Very frustrating to be caught in the middle. Anyway, I will insist on something being done. It is making a mess of my March holiday that I desperately need. This group is the greatest! Guest guest
Hi One thing I make certain of, whenever I have any tests done (lab work, CT Scan, etc.) I make sure a copy of everything is sent to my PCP, GI and Hep. That way everyone is aware of everything that is going on. My GI recently called my Hep to get his opinion of my pancreatic enzyme levels - really makes me feel assured that " my team " is working together.
