In Portugal, years ago, I asked the pharmacist for head lice shampoo and then asked (in poor French, as I spoke no Portuguese) if the shampoo was good for eggs. "Boiled or scrambled, Madame?"\

The next day the Prime Minister of Senegal, a fine thinker and poet whom we admired, saw my daughter in the park and tousled her lovely blond curls. TV cameras were rolling, and I couldn't bring myself to tell him not to touch -- he might get lice.

LOL They all said it was ok to use but not to treat again for another 5 days. She had two treaments already and the stuff is hard enough on ur skin wihout having liver disease. Ty for ur concern Harper! ((huggsss)) Trish > Trish, I guess you'll be speaking with Kelsey's doctor about the headline > shampoo. LOL! You certainly have led an interesting life Harper! As for

lice, I have a recipe with just essential oils. Haven’t had to use

it yet, but do have it on hand!

Dear ee,

Thanks for being there for your friend! The folks here are full of knowledge and we have suffered with the ups and downs as well as the overwhelming feeling when first diagnosed.

Your friend may do well for the rest of her life once they settle things down some. The meds can be difficult but they can do wonders. For others it continues to progress and eventually a transplant becomes the treatment necessary. My AIH was discovered after a gallbladder surgery and the surgeon came out excitedly to my husband and daughter with a picture of a chirrotic liver!

The GI doctor I started going to said that I probably had about 10 years till I'd need a transplant because it was pretty obvious my case was slow moving. But that was because of the chirrosis already prevalent.

After that I went on to get a master'd degree and became quite active in my teacher's association, continued to teach first grade and raise two teenagers along with my delightful hubby, Dave. I went about four full years before things got serious enough that I had to quit work - helped along by a blossoming case of lupus. I've been on the transplant list for two years now and very likely will hang out here for awhile. It can be frustrating but I listen to our transplant recipients and believe I'll be up and going with lots of energy to share :)

Priorities haven't really changed but they have certainly been clarified to what's truly important and not. I have found that my husband and kids are my angels and if I just reach out a bit to friends, they are delighted to chat or visit for a bit.

Hang in there with her, there is grieving to go through but there are many more things to cherish after the grieving is more manageable. Take care of your self and give your friend a big hug from me.

Amy
