Guest guest
Good job Michele! Check if I did it correctly. I added my name and chose to edit only myself. Thanks! Exercise Hi O'sss, I ust set up a database to keep track of our exerciseing for 10 days at a time. The first database goes from 11/11-11/20/2001 and I will set up more as needed. There is also a template for recipes under databases, incase anyone wants to experiment. You simply have to list your name, and what you did each day. For anyone who wants to be accountable to others. Just thought I'd check this out and see how it works. Its on the page for ER4YT-0. Guest guest
Great , I am not too familiar with the database and found I could not add to my record, not sure why, perhaps someone who has a working brain can figure out how it works, set it up and let us know. I really am stumped when it comes to adding additional data on me. Help? Hugs, Michele -----Original Message----- From: Brito-Irvin Sent: Thursday, November 15, 2001 9:19 PM Good job Michele! Guest guest
, > Wednesday night i managed to do between 35 -40 sit ups. And i danced for about 15 minutes. Alright!! Now you're sweatin'!! >>to a mall that is used for walking ( its slowly dying, most of the stores are closed down) Sounds like the Osceola Mall in Kissimmee, FL. My stepmom used to tell me about the walking club at this mall, how they met every morning, had get-togethers and incentive awards sponsored by the mall, and all that. As soon as we moved to Kissimmee, the next week the mall stopped the walks, blaming the economy (this was 1999, BTW), and they no longer opened the mall early so those who wanted to walk anyway could. When we moved back to Jersey, a new mall had opened about 20 miles away and *they* have a walking club, but it's a 30 minute ride in bumper-to-bumper NJ Turnpike traffic and almost $3 in tolls back and forth. In less than a week I would have the cost of another video tape! Our only local mall doesn't allow it, because security feels the place is too crowded to guarantee anyone's safety and they also refuse to open the mall early, even though NYC commuters who use the parking lot before hopping on their subway under the Hudson would stop in to the food court if available. >> i am not sure if its a quarter mile down and back or a half mile.. Next time you're near a sporting goods store stop in and get yourself a pedometer. You can get one as cheap as $8 or as expensive as a hundred dollar digital wiz-bang model. Once you adjust it for your stride, they're amazingly accurate and a good motivator. > and i REALLY wanted to sit down and take a break, A good stretch would have done that back more good than sitting. Raise your arms over your head loosly, bend your knees (important!!), then slowly bend, arching your back like a cat and hanging your arms loose. Hold it there for a few seconds to a minute, then slowly roll up to a standing position. Really relaxes the lower back muscles. >Lots of veggies and fruits have been added to list What's produce like where you live? All our grocery stores have signs hanging over the veggie bins apologizing for the quality and price of everything, blaming droughts and other weather phenomenon. Things have looked awful since last summer when iceberg lettuce first hit over $2 a head and came pre-wilted. >I can't cut out the little debbie snacks yet, cuz those are my treats Everyone deserves a treat now and then, as long as you allow for it in your daily food plan. >>I swear they call out my name and say EAT ME!!!! They got that idea from my Fritos. I swear there's a snack food conspiracy out there! >>I have never been good at knowing all the low cal and low fat foods. Get yourself a handy dandy nutrition and exchange information guide next time you're at a book store. You'll be amazed at the things you can learn from it, like how coconut has more fat than some cookies and some brands of hot chocolate have more caffeine than coffee! >But THANKS to your recipes, I know what to do. See how people like the recipe exchanges, ladies? How about the rest of you sharing a favorite or 2? I'm sure not everyone wants the vegetarian stuff that I post and would like to see how others make a lower calorie roast or casserole. How about the rest of you sharing a favorite or 2? I *would*, but I don't cook! The only " recipes " that I have are things like... Spread Pizza Quick sauce on pita bread, grate soy mozzarella and spread turkey pepperoni on it and bake until the cheese melts. That's " fancy cooking " for me! LOL Sue I did the thing I feared the most -- excuse me while I cheer. Now here I stand, a stronger soul -- and all I've lost is fear. Guest guest
> > Well I did 2 days in a row for 20 mins of the exercise challenge.. I worked til 9am this morning and had to be back at 6pm.. so i didnt have time to exercise today.. Im at work now.. I supposed i could walk in place or something for 20 mins tonight.. anyone have any ideas of a exercise i could do at work.. " (snip) > Hehe, I was hard-pressed yesterday. We made the walk to and from the car a bit of a 'power walk' since we were on the wrong side of the Erwin Center. I did what balancing exercises from Yoga that I could get away with (standing on one leg, standing with one leg raised, standing with one leg crossed at the knee) that I could, and sorta walk/rocked in place while waiting in line. Anything to keep moving, ya know? Walking in place would be good -- swing those arms! Stretching, too, is good for doing at work. Esp. if you're alone and not required to be sitting in front of a computer. Heck, just turn up a radio and dance! Against-the-wall push-ups (Lean against the wall and push out. MUCH easier than a full on-the-floor push-up), jumping jacks? I think I saw where you mentioned what it is you do, but I'm afraid my short-term memory is more like a leaky strainer than a steel trap... so I don't know what kind of space you have to work with? Guest guest
Im a supervisor in a call center.. this place is pretty big.. We take orders for some catalogs and some online sites.. but lately it has been extremely slow.. but the space is kinda big i guess i could walk around it up and down and up the isles or something.. anything to keep moving.. I dont think my ankles could take the jumping jacks.. lol but the push ups against the walls sound good and stretching.. Thanks for the ideas sulablue2001 <sulablue2001@...> wrote: Walking in place would be good -- swing those arms! Stretching, too, is good for doing at work. Guest guest
>>anyone have any ideas of a exercise i could do at work.. Just the usual - park further away, take stairs instead of elevator, walk around the building during lunch break, etc. >>Its just me here so its not something i need to worry about people watching me.. lol Well, in that case, walking in place and all like in 's tapes may be the thing. Too bad you don't have access to a vcr. > I did some of the fat burning 4 mile walk by leslie sansone.. ACK! I just bought 3 more over the weekend. Well, one I ordered from & Nobel and the other 2 I bought. I just finished the 2-mile walk from the fat burner workout, I think it's called (tape 2 of the 3 tape set), and the 3 mile tape is waiting for me when I'm ready. Her stuff is *so* easy to do compared with the tapes! >its all i could do to do 20 mins.. but hopefully I will be able to get through the whole thing soon. Like I wrote before, it took me about 10 *years* to get in good enough shape to do her tapes again! Now I'm breezing through the easier ones. I don't think my knees could ever tolerate some of the harder ones. Just stick with it and eventually you'll be able to do more and more. 20 minutes is *great*! Guest guest
Ouch...you snow people. I am a native Californian and I virtually know nothing about snow (except I got stuck in a white once in Wyoming and it took me 4 hours to drive 25 miles and then I was sick to my stomach for the next few hours...) I am truly thankful for the mild weather here. It is sunny and bright, but the rains are moving in... Do you guys ever do any snow sports? Sledding, skiing, snow ball fights, building snow forts and burying your husband in it or making a romantic snow fort...just rambling I guess the fumes from scrubbing the bathroom are getting to me (who forgot to use gloves while scrubbing and hands are burning-DOH!) ---------------------------------

When I was a kid, my father used to build an ice rink in our back yard. I would like to do that sometime too. Today is bright but it is a bit chilly. The kids played outside earlier but seemed to be too cold in the afternoon. Oh well. Shoveling & snow man building ... actually we ar into forts this year... they are all good exercise. Guest guest
I actually like the snow weather cuz it means a day or two of being stuck at home and I can't possibly go and do anything cuz the roads are so yucky...lol!! We have had California weather in Illinois up til now so we have been pretty lucky. I don't do any snow sports..I used to snowmobile and sled but I don't anymore. I like to be inside instead of outside during this kinda weather...lol! Re: Exercise Ouch...you snow people. Guest guest
> Ok do you mind if I ask this question ? How come you have an Italian rest. and not an African themed. No I don't mind. When Ali came to this country, he worked in Italian Restaurants... he got to know the cuisine and stuck with it. We would also have to be in a very densely populated area to have such an ethnic restaurant.... they are hard to make it anywhere... takes alot of money... We were totally broke the day we opened the doors to the restaurant... Luckily we hit it right... almost 8 years later, we are still going strong! (By the Grace of God) > My husband's favorite is Egyptian, I have never tried Egyptian... what is it like? Is it at all like Moroccan? I would love to open a very traditional Moroccan restaurant.. with the correct Moroccan atmosphere... except I'd leave the cockroaches in Morocco... the ones I saw were the size of mice! > (Tomorrow is 's 9th, my baby is growing up too fast, sniff) They do that. My oldest turned 10 in October... since then she has grown up even more... she is acting like a pre teen now... scary!!!! She actually fixes her hair! (That used to be a major struggle... she still doesn't want me to braid it etc... but she is doing it herself.. that's cool!)
Guest guest
A funny aside... Ali looks very Italian... His Moroccan accent isn't that heavy... I think alot of people can't tell what kind of accent it is so they just assume he is Italian. When I worked in the restaurant, people would actually argue with me on whether or not I was Italian... (I am German & English & Mutt...) I guess I look Italian too. I used to say, " I am not Italian but I can sing some if you would like! " It cracked me up that they would actually argue with me!! Guest guest
I like the snow, but only for a short time...and 26 yrs. is enough for me! I would give it up in a minute!! I liked the mild winter we had...it was what every winter should be like as far as I am concerned...lol! I respect that you like the snow...it just doesn't do much for me. It wasn't any fun driving to work on the ice! But thankfully the temp rose to 44 degrees today and melted a lot of the white stuff!! I am looking forward to spring!! Have a great day all!! Guest guest
Sounds like you're fitting exercise to your schedule. It might help to take the opposite approach in terms of priorities and fit your schedule to exercise since for Type O's exercise is the 900 lb gorilla of wellness. I'll say this from experience, there isn't a way to get around exercise & new ways of eating inconveniencing you on some level. They do, but it's sort of like the inconvenience of having to go pick up an extra week of life, wouldn't you make an hour or two drive to add a week to your life or to pick up $5000? Exercise I have been the world's laziest person up till now. I hate exercise of all kinds. But, I am set on changing my ways. The only problem is time, or rather, the lack of it. Would an hour of exercise, twice a week, be enough? Should I rather have four half hour sessions? Guest guest
Hilda, I believe that four half-hour sessions would be preferable. Guest guest
Hilda Buy a flag that attaches just below the seat and sticks out approx. 2 inches more than your body. The driver will see the flag fluttering and be afraid to scratch his car (your body is soft and won't scratch the car). This should help with the drivers who don't care about cyclists. Your legs will take 2 or 3 days to get used to the new challenges you are giving them. Take homeopathic arnica to help you get over the stiffness and jelly feeling. Enjoy your exercise. from Canada >From: " Hilda Vosloo " <hildavosloo@...> >> >> >In front of my own yard on the way back, some idiot in a Mercedes tried to >get as close to me as possible.
