Hi everyone,

I use a variety of glass containers for storing stevia powder, and spices,

depending upon how much I use.

Since I use very little stevia powder I keep it in a glass spice bottle I bought

at Mountain Rose Herbs.

I use a lot of cinnamon and nutmeg, which I buy in bulk, so I keep them in

canning jars (used for jam or jelly), with the pretty lids - there are various

sizes you can buy.

I buy larger glass jars at used stores for kimchi or sauerkraut.

Wal-Mart has 2 sizes of glass bowls (the smaller one has a plastic lid which

doesn't touch the food) for storing and freezing food - I put Saran Wrap on

those without lids and if I want it more secure I put a rubber band around it.

The best to all, Bee

Ball has white plastic lids for refrigerator use instead of the canning

lids. These can be purchased separately and are very very useful.

A regular blender (that you often see with glass containers) only tops out at 10,000 RPMs - a Vitamix at 38,000 RPMs. Let's say a pitted date accidentally wasn't pitted and the pit hit the blades of a Vitamix on high - bye bye glass container! :-)

They went from stainless steel to PBA free plastic because people wanted to see the food inside and because of the decreased cost to manufacture the Tritan Copolyester compaired to stainless.

Here is some information on the Tritan Copolyester that we use in our containers:

(Tritan Copolyester doesn't disrupt endocrine hormones)

(a company switches to Tritan Copolyester)

Glass is impractical. For one thing, it's breakable. Add to that the

possibility of leaving a piece of silverware in a glass container while

it's running and you have a potentially hazardous situation. Then

there's the fact that it would be extremely heavy and would have to be

heat-proof as well. The old containers handled all of these issue with

no problem but it's nice to be able to see in while you're blending and

the fact that there are measuring increments that can be seen from the

outside is nice, too.
