Cats and fumes -- was tuberose question

No, that's probably not the reason for his kidney failure, . Cats

are very prone to this as they age. I know of many, many cases. Some have

to give them IV drips at home on a regular basis.

My cats are not interested in the aromatics. They do love to sniff flowers

and herbs when I bring them inside, but of course, that's harmless. It is

good to remind folks here, especially newbies, that cat's livers cannot

metabolize essential oils and aromatics (fumes) easily. It can cause

extreme illness, even death.

My home is very well ventilated almost year round, since I live in the

tropics, but those who have to close their homes up due to cold should take

special care that the cats don't have to breathe in fumes from their

perfume too much.
