I don't know how high your level was, but I suggest you follow up for

the results since high potassium levels can cause cardiac arrythmias.

High levels usually cause muscle weakness and tingling more than cramps.

I would also suggest pressing for an answer as to the cause if this

second level come back high. There are many sites that you can find on

hyperkalemia that is the scientific term for high potasssium level. Good

Wow , this is so weird.. I had severe foot cramps last night and i have them

whenever I'm doing Yoga.. Especially that one stance when i sit on my feet..

I had to get up immediately and started walking around because it hurt so

much.. (the foot cramps) I hate when that happens.. It feels like something

is broken.. After walking around for a few minutes it went away.. I couldnt

imagine having that while driving , i'd probably get into an accident. I

dont know if there is a relationship between PA and cramps..

Subject: foot cramps

I am having terrible cramping in my feet...on the bottom right across the

balls of my feet near toes... I am 51 and have been making effort to drink

a

lot of liquids for the last 2 yrs....

Because I take blood pressure med. The Doc checks potassium levels. They

have

always been normal till last week. Today I go to have it rechecked cause

last time the levels were high...When the nurse called, I asked what could

make the levels high, she declined to give an answer, only said , " we always

check Potassium when you are on BP tablets " (yea right but they are

checking

to see if it's low)

I don't know what causes the foot cramping..but sometimes it's hard to drive

when it happens, have to keep stopping. Rheumy only says... " hhhmmmmmm " when

I ask...the primary doc says... " probably related to your muscular skeletal

disease.. "

who knows? not me...

Hi ,

My brother had tried many things to stop smoking, the doctor finally

prescribed medication Nicotrol Inhaler. It still took lots of will

power but he finally made it off. Good luck to you!! Louise.

Hello ,

You might try the medication Nicotrol Inhaler. It is percription

only so you would need to ask your doctor if you wanted to try it.

Last year it was the best I found to try. Good luck with the pain.

Still's does cause cramps in places too. I hope yours selttles down

it on so i took it off i should be able to quit after what ive been

though but it seems harder.Hope u all the best and take care ur

I to am afflicted with Foot and leg cramps mostly during the night and

mornings. I find the easiest way for me to get rid of them is to to grasp my

toes and pull hard toward me and maintain the pressure until the cramps ease

I do the same thing for the legs cramps and it seems to work for me that

way also. I am on medication to stop them completely but it doesn't seem to

do any good no matter how high of a dosage that I take and the Doctor is

letting me set my own Dosage within reason! Take care now and be PAIN FREE!

I rolled the bottom of my foot over a tennis ball slowly increasing pressure

until all the pain was gone ( I warn you it works well, but it is not for the

weak!)Amy

Hi, I thought I'd tell you that's what I was trying to describe a couple

of times. I also use a rim of a coffee cup, edge of a magnifying glass,

etc. But that exactly describes it. Do we know what the condition is?

I also wonder if it can be related to RLS, if RLS can get so awful that

it can hurt, & if the pain can creep up into the calve muscles, &

sometimes even thighs. I think what I call firbro might be this, but I

don't even know what " this " is. I think aspirin, etc. calms it down,

but what in the heck is it, anyway! Tk

Oh, welcome, welcome back, Q. Himes. We all behaved pretty well

after the convention was over, but I guess you got wind of our BAD, BAD,

BAD behavior during the convention. I was good, though, honest. I

wouldn't kid about that.

In high school I had all sorts of muscle cramps, all over and would

usually come on after I got home from school. The doc gave me some super

strength liquid potassium stuff to mix and drink with water. I don't

remember the name, but it was a very vivid yellow color and sort of lime

tasting. Anyway, I had no idea I was so potassium deficient. After 6 to

8 months of that stuff daily, I wasn't experiencing cramps.

After last year's surgery and all the blood tests, it showed I was

potassium deficient again; so in the hospital they gave me some other

potassium cocktail each day. It wasn't as 'tasty', but got my potassium

levels back up.

I have been taking Vit. E, at 1000 mg for about 5 years now. No cramps,

good blood flow, muscle tissues behaving. In my mineral water, which is

the only beverage I drink, besides high concentrates of calcium and

silica, magnesium is in there too.

Any foot or related pain, I use ice packs directly on site.

I have cramps in the feet and lower legs just above my ankles that

go up about to the spot where my calf muscle is on the bottom. I have

not found any better relief than using. I was diagnosed with Restless

Leg Syndrome so it may be this doing it on me or the Dr.s did not

know what they were talking about and it is CMT. I have tried

numerous things from presciptions to herbal remedies. I got about

half an hours relief with peppermint oil & lavander oil rubbed on

legs. I just started trying European Cranberry Bark(Crampbark) mixed

into tea.

Dear All,

Why am I suddenly getting cramps on the bottom of my soles, either when

I make a wrong step or twist my lower foot? I remember this from pregnancy

20 years ago but I'm not pregnant. I take a multi mineral and extra calcium,

so what could this be from? I also exercise...

The more I exercise, the more prone I am to foot cramps. I hate them,

ouch! I don't know why I get them but I bet it's part of CFIDS.

More magnesium may be in order for those experiencing cramps or

muscle twitches. You may not need the extra calcium as taking too

much calcium can cause an imbalance w/ magnesium.

Sunflower seeds (raw, avoid the roasted in oil and salted sunflower

seeds) are a good source for magnesium. I'm working on an article

about magnesium (as if the net needed another article on the subject)

and will share that when completed.

Magnesium, like calcium and a few other minerals, requires stomach

acid to help in the absorption. I'm not suggesting HCl

supplementation. Just letting you know that this could be

contributing to low mineral levels.

Jim,

Thanks for the info.I have been craving for sunflower seeds about a year

ago. Than I started not to feel any need for them. I was thinking the reason

couple of days ago. After reading your note I thought that it could be

because of magnesium. I remembered that I stopped eating seeds after

starting to take magnesium. So,if I don't forget to do this I will try to

decrease my magnesium dosage until I start craving for sunflower seeds. This

will help me to find out my current optimum magnesium dosage. This also made

me to re think about dosages of supplements. Our needs may change in time

and we may be taking more than we need at some times.This is an additional

load on our bodies. What do you think?

Do you have any info on sesame seeds and pancreas and or liver/gallbladder

functioning.I am also wondering the effects of grapeseed extract on pancreas

and or liver/gallbladder functioning.Do you have any idea? Thanks.

Elle - I was told to take Magnesium for my leg and foot cramps (in

2000), and it did the trick for me. Try it; can't hurt! As for the one

in your neck and head - have you seen a doc???

Hi everyoneI'm on 3 grains of Armour and doing fine - except for the fact that Ikeep getting cramp in my feet and wondered whether adding 25mg ofthyroxin and reducing my Armour by a quarter of a grain would help.I've tried taking extra magnesium which has helped a bit, but not much.What do you think?Janet

If you do a search for Himalayan salt sole every single one of them says to use the rock not the grains - there are different Himalayan salts for different things and I have no idea what the difference is other than rocks for sole, bath salts, shaker salt for food. I just like to stick to what they recommend to know that I am doing it right.

But surely salt is salt - and whehter you use a 'rock' of salt or the salt crystals, both dissolve until the water is completely saturated and a bit of salt is left in the bottom of the jug - or is there something I don't know....and no rude remarks please *grin*.

Hi Sheila

I've taken your advice and added 25mg of T4 as well as my 3 grains of

Armour and this is the second day. I was feeling a bit dizzy before,

and thats gone, and at the moment I feel fine, so I think my body must

have needed the extra T4.

I've also got some pink Himalayan salt, in case its potassium

deficiency so I'm hedging all my bets at the moment.

I'll give it a week or so and report back to let you know how I'm

getting on.

Another catch-up reply: apricots, dried or fresh, are also said to be

an excellent souce of potassium -- a useful fact in my household where

my wife can't abice the smell of bananas.
