Kim,

Welcome to the group. I'm glad you found us! We have lots of parents with

twins in this group.

Are your helmets open on the top or closed? We had a locally made helmet that

was clear plastic with lots of holes all over and some padding here and

there. It was closed on the top. If you go to the files section you will be

able to see lots of folders containing pictures of our babies in their

helmets/bands. We do have lots of people here in DOC or STARbands. We also

have a good number of babies who wear locally made helmets. We are a diverse

group! :-)

I hope you will hang around for awhile. I think you will find this group to

be an outstanding source of support and answers.

hi Kim, my name is Elena and i live in Manassas, my son DJ is 8 months and got

his clear helmet two weeks ago. Crazy mom decided to take him to Bull Run park

yesterday but i took his helmet off because of the heat, he enjoyed his first

day at the park, the only thing i noticed that helps with the smell is the J & J

bedtime wash(lavender bottle)and i have to wash his little head every day

otherwise it does smell, i decorated his helmet with stickers and it looks

" cool " other kids think he's ready to ride his bike but just like you i have not

seen anyone else with the helmet around my area and it is nice to hear i am not

alone here. I am a little worried about this summer and i am hoping DJ will be

done soon since he is growing really fast. Good luck to you and welcome!!!

Hi there,

I also use the Lavender J & J bedtime wash to wash my

daughter's hair and head. Her head smells good all

day long. I would give it a try!!

Hi Kim,

Again, I am so far behind the e-mails, and I just read yours -- sorry if some

of what I say will be a repeat. I live in Northern VA too (Ashburn). I have

not seen any babies in helmets or bands either. had been in a DOC Band

since 1/29/2001. She is now 15 months old. When it's been hot, she sweats a

lot and her band smells vinegary. I have taken the advice of the people in

this group, and wash her hair with the Loreal watermelon shampoo and I use

91% alcohol and it does the trick.

All of the Northern VA moms should meet up -- I think there are a few!

Welcome to the group,

-- --

p.s. I'm a twin and I love it, my twin is my best friend! Your twins will

be so close!
